STOCKOGRAFIE: I´m a Fuji Fanboy

STOCKOGRAFIE: I´m a Fuji Fanboy | Fuji X Cameras | Scoop.it

Yes you read the title correctly. I am a Fuji fanboy and I am proud of it. Going through a long period of looking for the right camera and camera company for me I have finally found what I want.

And I definitely have fallen in love with the Fuji cameras. Starting in 2011 with the Fuji X100 and then just a year later with the X-Pro1.Nowadays I use the absolutely awesome Fuji X100S and the X-Mount camera Fuji X-E1. The question of course is, why I have become a Fuji fan.

I organize photo tours and I own three Fuji cameras: the X-100, the X-Pro1 and an EX. I recently purchased a Nikon D-600. I love the Fuji X-Pro1 and my only regret to this day is the fact that it can’t be the only camera I use in my work.

Step aside Leica, the Fuji X-Pro1 is here! | Paul Komarek

Step aside Leica, the Fuji X-Pro1 is here! | Paul Komarek | Fuji X Cameras | Scoop.it

As you may know, I'm not one to recommend a product unless I own the product myself and can attest to its worthiness to make my list of recommendations, and that holds true for any product whether it's an inexpensive filter or a multi-thousand dollar camera system. In fact, until now, I have not recommended a camera system outside of Canon's lineup simply because I haven't found one worthy of recommendation. That changed when I got my hands on Fuji's X-Pro1 camera system and began putting it through its paces. To start, this is not your typical pro camera--it's not a bulky SLR or a point-and-shoot, but rather a mirrorless, hybrid rangefinder system. In fact the closest thing I can relate this camera system to is the Leica M9 digital rangefinder. The Leica M series rangefinders have been in a league of their own for years, however, that has now changed with the birth of the Fuji X-Pro1. I know that by saying that, I'm making a very large claim to fame for the X-Pro1 but in this review, I intend to show you why Leica now has some competition--in fact, with a price point of $1,200 compared to Leica's $7,900, it's some serious competition! Fuji initially introduced the FinePix X100 which was a large-sensor compact with a cool retro style, very much mimicking the Leica bodies with its manual control knobs and sleek, sturdy build. Underneath that sleek, sturdy build, however, was an array or modern technologies aimed at producing pro-grade image quality. It was no surprise then when less than a year later Fuji announced the X-Pro1 with its interchangeable lens system--the first mirrorless camera system aimed specifically at professional photographers.....

Weekend in Suffolk | Sam Burton

Weekend in Suffolk | Sam Burton | Fuji X Cameras | Scoop.it

We were back in Suffolk over the weekend. It is where my girlfriend and I both grew up and our families still live. Next year we are getting married there and this weekend we had a tasting with the wedding caterer. Having lived in London for the last six years I really love going back to Suffolk to escape the hustle and bustle of the City. I took the opportunity to head out with my X-pro 1 and shoot some of the beautiful Autumn colours. All pictures were taken with the XF 35mm lens and processed with VSCO film.....

Fuji X100S Review

Fuji X100S Review | Fuji X Cameras | Scoop.it

This is an in-depth review of the Fujifilm X100S mirrorless camera, which was released on January 7, 2013 together with the X20 compact camera. After the success of the original X100, Fuji upgraded the sensor and the hybrid viewfinder, added some new features, addressed a few important firmware issues and added the “S” to the label of the camera. The long-awaited Fuji X100S debuted with a lot of fanfare, thanks to its big supporters like Zack Arias and David Hobby that provided plenty of coverage of the camera. Being tied up with reviewing newly released Nikon lenses and cameras, I did not have a chance to test the X100S out until the summer of 2013. Another reason was poor availability – the X100S was in such a high demand, that it was nowhere to be found for a long time.

First Impressions of Fuji X-Pro 1 | Doug Chinnery

First Impressions of Fuji X-Pro 1 | Doug Chinnery | Fuji X Cameras | Scoop.it

I have taken the plunge and bought a second hand Fuji X Pro 1. Why? A number of reasons. I needed a smaller camera system for some trips that could produce high quality commercial images but without the weight and bulk of my DSLR system. I had also had a chance to use the X Pro and it’s sibling the X100sa nd both had blown me away both in terms of usability and in the ‘filmic’ quality of the images the sensor and lenses produce. I also hold my hands up and unashamedly admit to being seduced by the beautiful retro styling and the superb build quality of the Fuji’s. I have some workshop ideas for the camera too, so there were commercial considerations in my mind also. As I bought second hand I didn’t have a choice of lenses. The kit I bought came with the 35mm f1.4 prime (which I would have chosen even if I was buying new) and the 18-55mm zoom lens which I probably wouldn’t have gone for, rather erring towards a set of primes. However, the zoom is by no means a ‘kit lens’, this is a full on, high quality piece of glass which is solidly made and performs incredibly well. So I may well hold on to it. Only time will tell.......

Fuji X100s for Street Photography (by Tranquillin Stephane - France)

Fuji X100s for Street Photography (by Tranquillin Stephane - France) | Fuji X Cameras | Scoop.it
[This is a reader submitted article,

I started looking for a camera for street photography a year ago. What I wanted was a small body, small and fast prime lens between 28mm and 50mm focal length which is in my opinion the best range for street photography, and more important it’s the range that suits my style of shooting, as I am not very comfortable with longer or shorter focal lengths (for street shooting I mean).

Lighting Adventures: Why I Chose Fuji? | Fuji X Cameras | Scoop.it

With the recent addition of a Fujifilm X-E1 in my gear bag, I am surely well on my way to converting from DSLR junkie to mirrorless nut. I'd most likely still keep my DSLRs, but who knows for how much longer.

Street photography in Soho and Covent Garden with the Fuji X-E1 | Al Power

Street photography in Soho and Covent Garden with the Fuji X-E1 | Al Power | Fuji X Cameras | Scoop.it

A few weeks ago I went up to London to visit the Photographers gallery and check out the Mass Observation exhibition (excellent - sadly now finished) with my good friend David, and then spent an afternoon introducing him to the fine art of street photography (to which he took to pretty naturally).

tips settings

For the most part I wore my Fuji X-E1 around my wrist using a wrist strap, with my finger on the power switch. Settings were pretty much 1/250th of a second, f4-f8 and auto ISO up to 6400, and manual focused/zone focused so that if I saw something interesting approaching, I could power on, and just raise the camera to my eye and shoot, all within seconds - often without my subject even realising. I used both the 18-55 and the 35 mm, but I really liked being forced to think with my feet within the constraints of the 35mm.......

Switching Gears - Fuji 55mm-200mm walkabout | Chad Wadsworth

Switching Gears - Fuji 55mm-200mm walkabout | Chad Wadsworth | Fuji X Cameras | Scoop.it

Taking a break from all this Austin City Limits concert coverage, Fuji recently sent me the newish Fujinon 55mm-200mm OIS Zoom to play with on the X-E1. I'll admit that this is not exactly the type of lens that I usually invest in, but I was still anxious to take it out for a spin. With a 35mm equivalent range of roughly 82mm-300mm, this optic covers a lot of useful territory. in typical Fuji fashion, the construction is impressive and the optical quality outstanding. Metal, plastic, rubber and glass combine to form a substantial lens that feels good in the hand and on the camera. The OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) function helps keep your shot steady and is critical on the long-end when the speed slows down to f/4.8 (still much faster than your typical kit or super zoom). I won't bore you with technical evaluations but take a look at some samples from my walk around Town Lake / Zilker Park, here in Austin TX....
