In part 1 of this post, I spent a lot of time looking at the theory of promises and deferreds: what promises are and how they behave. Now it's time to actually explore some ways to use promises and deferreds in JavaScript and dive into some best practices. I'll start with some basic uses and examples of promises and then will dive into a number of specifics pertaining to using promises in jQuery.

IE10 Release: Useful front-end developer tips to prepare.

In case you’ve missed it, Internet Explorer 10 is being released with Windows 8 at the end of October for desktops and tablets as is the Surface tablet. Windows 7 users will be able to install IE10 in the middle of November.

"Websites are systems rather than pages and as soon as we stop perceiving them as that, the better.

So instead of thinking of the "system" you are building as single pages that each have a different version for each screen size, think of if more like one space that has expanding and contracting regions(header, sidebar etc), in each of these regions is where you put the building blocks(elements and components) that also expand and contract. A style guide is where you can assemble all these elements and components."
