QUETTA: People from across the country staged protests in their respective cities on Saturday against the targeted killings of Shias in several attacks, including two blasts in Quetta on Thursday that left over a 100 dead. The protest in Karachi was staged at Karachi Press Club, while the protest in Islamabad was held at F-6 Supermarket. A demonstration was also held at Lahore’s Liberty Chowk. Pakistani twitter users also generated trends #ShiaGenocide and #WeAreAllHazara to express solidarity with the minority community.

PPP’s Kurram Agency president shot dead in Peshawar PARACHINAR TODAY’S REPORT ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Kurram Agency chapter president and candidate for the upcoming general elections from NA-37, Dr. Syed Riaz Hussain was shot dead in a life attempt by unknown assailants in Peshawar Wednesday. Shahid Kazmi, a resident of Parachinar while citing family sources of Dr Syed Riaz Hussain confirmed the attack saying that he personally contacted his (Riaz) brother Dr Syed Mujahid Hussain Shah when his was in critical condition. However, later reports confirmed that Dr Riaz succumbed to the injuries after the gun shots. Reports further said that some unknown militants riding a bike, attacked Dr Riaz’s car in DabgariGarden area of Peshawar.
Syed Dr Riaz Hussain was PPP’s Kurram Agency chapter president and a candidate for National Assembly from Parachinar, Kurram Agency. Dr. Syed Riaz Hussain Shah was born in Okara on 26th July, 1959 to Late Col. Syed Shabir Hussain. He is from the Pashtun Tribe of Turi of Parachinar, Kurram Agency. He belongs to a notable family of Kurram Agency which has always worked for the benefit of Kurram Agency. Syed Riaz attended Khyber Medical College, Peshawar. He was a physician and went abroad to Austria for specialization gastroenterology. Family sources said that his dead body will be shifted to Parachinar for burial.
