Some great resources listed here. I would argue, though, the best way to combat cheating is create engaging assessments that students want to do and learn from.

The Beginner's Guide to Using Periscope for Education - Pike Mall Tech | Froga | Scoop.it
Periscope, Twitter’s live video streaming app, is taking the education world by storm.  Since its debut in early 2015, teachers and administrators are trying to figure out how to use Periscope for education and not just as a way for students to stream silly human tricks on live video to their friends.

Before we can get into how to use Periscope for education, let’s first define what exactly Periscope is and how you use it for those of you that are clueless for now.

32 Characteristics Of High-Performing Classrooms [#Infographic] | #LEARNing2LEARN #ProfessionalDevelopment | Froga | Scoop.it
Instructional design is the strategic creation of learning experiences through intentional planning, sequencing, and data-based revision of learning.

This process includes both the ways content is accessed, and the learning needs and objectives (and how they are determined) themselves.

This puts instructional strategies, literacy strategies, curriculum mapping, standards unpacking, assessment design, digital literacy, and a dozen other facets of education beneath its umbrella.

With that in mind, we’ve created the following 32 characteristics of higher-level instructional planning to help you spot the holes in your teaching.

I have been fortunate enough to have visited 53 of the places on this list (I have gaping holes in my list and the list itself has some gaping holes itself).  All lists are highly subjective; this list, for example, is heay on urban/cultural/European tourism sites and light on physical/Asian/African destinations.  Most geographers already have enough reasons to go traveling, but this list might spark more.  Who wants to map out these places to verify that initial impression?

Questions to Ponder: Which places are on your dream list?  Which places do you think should have been added to this list?

The Mindset of the Maker Educator: Presentation Materials - @JackieGerstein | Froga | Scoop.it
During Connected Educators’ Month I did a virtual presentation on The Mindset of the Maker Education. The description for this presentation was:

Dr. Jackie Gerstein discusses why we are in a perfect storm for maker education and the maker mindset–new skills and roles (many of which you probably already have on your internal desk)–with a self-assessment to help you determine how maker-ready you are, and what you need to do if you want to get there…

What follows are the slide deck and some of the graphics-Thinglinks I created around this topic.

These Downloadable Kits Let Teachers 3-D-Print Educational Models For Kids - FastCo.Exist #makered

These Downloadable Kits Let Teachers 3-D-Print Educational Models For Kids - FastCo.Exist #makered | Froga | Scoop.it
If you’re old enough, you’ll remember how your schoolteacher used to deal out those weird-smelling, purple-inked Ditto machine prints. Failing that, you’re sure to recall photocopies. Now that same duplication can be brought to plastic objects.

Any school that owns or has access to a 3-D printer can now make three-dimensional models, or "manipulatives)," of the 2-D illustrations in books. Not only that, but they can download and print all manner of neat educational objects, from catapults to distance-measuring wheels to mathematical models. The 3-D printer needs to be supplied, but the models come from MyStemKits, a new company that specializes in models for schools.
