Google: First Amendment protected?
Los Angeles Loyolan (subscription)
In light of LMU's upcoming First Amendment Week (from Feb. 4 to Feb.
Jesse Scala's insight:

This article is very diffent form many other cases. This is a case about how google decides what sources you will find when you search it. Theere being accused of not being trust worthy with there sources. This brings up the freedom of expression. Google is a private not goverment owned buisness. So they are tequnically allowed to give you the resources they think you will want to see.

El Paso County passes measure defying Obama's gun control orders

El Paso County passes measure defying Obama's gun control orders | Freedom of Speech- Jesse Scala | Scoop.it
El Paso Countys commissioners wont enforce laws — federal or state — that infringe on the Second Amendment right to bear arms and are prepared to face any financial consequences of not following federal law.
Jesse Scala's insight:

Even thought this deals with the second amendment more i see the first amendement in this article. This is freedom to express. They are standing up for what they feel is right and what they believe in. There aloud to do this. They say they accept any charges and fines against them but they standing up for whats right. THis is freedom of expression at its finest!

Federal Judge Denies Request to Block Nativity Ban

Federal Judge Denies Request to Block Nativity Ban | Freedom of Speech- Jesse Scala | Scoop.it
A federal judge on Monday denied a request from a nonprofit group to temporarily block a ban on unattended displays in Santa Monica, Calif.
Jesse Scala's insight:

This another way how we have limitaions for the freedom of speech. The law is stronger then the freedoms of the people which i think is obserd. The government gets its power from the people but it seems like its npt like that anymore with big brother limiting our freedoms more and more. We only can say positive things and say things and express things that wont offend people or else youll get thrown in jail

This video is the point of limitations. You have your right, yes. I dont see it as a right though i see it as a privilage. This privilage can be taken away from you. This video hear is a conversation between a worker and a boss. The boss is telling the person how they have to watch what they say because people are too sensitive now a days and you have to watch what you say. People can take things as a threat or as an attack. If that is reported you can get fired or go to jail.

Banning of protester from D.C. after inauguration ignites debate on free speech

Banning of protester from D.C. after inauguration ignites debate on free speech | Freedom of Speech- Jesse Scala | Scoop.it
Civil liberties groups say the rights of the demonstrator, who climbed a tree to protest abortion, were violated. (RT @seanmdav: They said if I voted for Romney, dissent would be banned and the First Amendment shredded...and they were right!
Jesse Scala's insight:

What i see in this article is a major violation of the first amendment. This is obsurd because this violates freedom of speech and freedom of assembly! This a way people express themselves by protesting . Take the right to have a protest away is pretty much taking everyones first amendment away. I highly doubt this will be allowed to pass

This video is very long nor funny but it gets to the point. The freedom of speech is the freedom to express yourself the way you want to. No one fcan tell you how you can express youself you get to express yourself the way you want but there is always limitaions. By expressing your self you can " offend" anyone. Which now a days people seem to get offend a lot which limits our right.

This give the history more or less of why they put this freedom in the first amendment. Once only the rich and royalty had this freedom. The freedom was incorporate so every man could stand up and speak out for what they believe in.

This is legally speaking about the freedom of speech. This brings in the many limitations to this amendment. With everything in life there is limitations. When people hear freedom of speech they think they can say anything they want but in reality and law you should always think before you speech because god forbid you offend someone.
