Official Google Enterprise Blog: Chromebooks for Education: Simple, secure computers for schools | 21st Century Teaching and Technology Resources | Scoop.it

One of the many great promises of technology is its ability to help level the playing field in education. It can give students the tools and skills they need to prepare for work in a world where technology will be integrated in our lives.

But few schools today have the opportunity to provide computers in every classroom, or access for every student. Budget cuts and limited resources at many schools are real challenges; but devices can be more affordable and valuable than you might think.

Personalize Learning: Blended Learning is Not the Only Way to Personalize Learning

Personalize Learning: Blended Learning is Not the Only Way to Personalize Learning | 21st Century Teaching and Technology Resources | Scoop.it

Blended learning means offering a combination of face-to-face and online learning opportunities to learners. Blending these learning opportunities can contribute to personalizing learning. However, blended learning is not the only approach that personalizes learning. Personalizing learning starts with the learner. This means that learners have a stake in their learning by taking responsibility for their learning. When they own and drive their learning, they are more motivated to want to learn. In a learning environment that starts with the learner, teacher and learner roles change.

Focus on the Why of Learning Instead of the What
Willard Daggett

Creating a culture of achievement begins by building awareness about the skills and knowledge students need to be successful in the world beyond school.

The global marketplace is growing increasingly broad and competitive and will soon become more connected, more mutually interdependent, more diverse, and more demanding of a share of economic prosperity. The U.S. workplace is changing in terms of job opportunities, the work to be done, and how that work gets done.

STAR: Using Technology to Enhance the Academic Journey (EDUCAUSE Review) | EDUCAUSE.edu | 21st Century Teaching and Technology Resources | Scoop.it

This case study from the EDUCAUSE book Game Changers describes the STAR Academic Journey online advising and degree attainment support system, implemented across the University of Hawaii system six years ago. Students have eagerly adopted the system, with an average of 15 hits per student per semester on the STAR site. The system engages students in planning their own educational progress and uses their feedback in a process of continuous improvement to STAR services, which use analytics to support their academic success. STAR offers a support model valuable to many campuses facing student retention and college completion problems.
