For quite some time now I've been interested in a widely held set of assumptions faculty make about the need to assert control at the beginning of a course.

When it comes to graduate and post graduate classroom management this becomes one of the key aspects of course development and structure. It is a fine line we walk between teacher centered and student centered learning. This is why we need to blend the two appraoches into  "learning centered approach".
