I like this poster. Learning psychology is about explaining or outlining a theory, followed by evidence in the form of research, ending with critical evaluative commentary. This will be helpful for students.
Diane Goodman's curator insight, Today, 12:39 AM

A useful infographic that not only summarises the attributes of a critical thinker but more significantly, provides a 25 point list of actions teachers can invite students to do in learning activities, to stimulate and develop critical thinking abilities. A great poster for your office wall!

Steven Simmons's curator insight, May 18, 1:12 PM

Great TED talk regarding education.  Some the key points I liked:

- Teaching is a creative profession.

- Educaitonn is about learning.

- Role of the teacher is to facilitate learning.

- Education is not a mechanized industrial system, but a human system.

- Role of Education Leaders is not command and control, but creating an institutional culture of possibility.

Response to Intervention (RtI) can target each learner's needs when they need it as they need it.

Via Kathleen McClaskey
Kathleen McClaskey's curator insight, May 15, 1:36 PM

Instead of waiting until a learner fails, you can target each learner's specific learning needs when they need it as they need it. In fact, in a Personalized Learning Environment, learners own and drive their learning by designing their learning goals with their teacher. The teacher uses interventions based on the learning goals right from the beginning of the learning process.

46 Tools To Make Infographics In The Classroom

46 Tools To Make Infographics In The Classroom | 21st Century Teaching and Technology Resources | Scoop.it

Infographics are interesting–a mash of (hopefully) easily-consumed visuals (so, symbols, shapes, and images) and added relevant character-based data (so, numbers, words, and brief sentences).

The learning application for them is clear, with many academic standards–including the Common Core standards–requiring teachers to use a variety of media forms, charts, and other data for both information reading as well as general fluency...

Google Play for Education: Google goes after Apple’s K-12 stranglehold with cheap apps, tablets

Google Play for Education: Google goes after Apple’s K-12 stranglehold with cheap apps, tablets | 21st Century Teaching and Technology Resources | Scoop.it

"Today at its I/O event, Google announced Google Play for Education: A version of the Play store that is aimed and curated for young kids.

"Applications that are in the Play for Education store are sorted by age and genre. So, users can find math-based applications that are appropriate for their kindergartener, who wants to learn more math.

"However, what is most interesting about Play for Education is the ability for administrators to send out applications to their entire tablet fleet. So, if a school wants to send an app to their 200 Nexus 7 devices, they can do so, by simply inputting the group’s name. The app will be pushed out by Google."

10 Expectations Learners Have!

"We hear often of the "high expectations" schools must have of and for their students, yet we seldom hear of the expectations students have of their schools."

Via Kathleen McClaskey
Kathleen McClaskey's curator insight, May 14, 10:03 AM

Learners' expectations constitute the new "rules of engagement" in the relationship that young people want with their schools. Consider these expectations and then have an open dialogue on how you can create "learner-centered" environments where these expectations could be realized for the learners in your school.

Vicki Butler's curator insight, May 14, 11:58 AM

Just had this discussion with a dear friend in his late 70's. Thanks for posting this!

Lou Salza's curator insight, May 15, 11:13 AM

I liked this. It was an opportunity for me to listen to the learner point of view. The 10 expectations are relevant at any level but these are particularly important at the secondary and college level in my view. These expectations also speak to how on line and blended learning environments will or will not connect to learners. well worth 4 minutes!-Lou

Excerpt from the decription on YouTube:" We hear often of the "high expectations" schools must have of and for their students, yet we seldom hear of the expectations students have of their schools. Students' expectations constitute the new "rules of engagement" in the relationship that young people want with their schools."
