The Challenges and Realities of Inquiry-Based Learning | Mind/Shift

The Challenges and Realities of Inquiry-Based Learning | Mind/Shift | 21st Century Teaching and Technology Resources | Scoop.it
As education continues the march toward a student-driven, project-oriented approach that values intelligent solutions to open-ended problems, it won’t be sufficient to focus on the wonderful discoveries and authentic work that result from an inquiry-based system. Instead, a far more difficult issue will come to the fore: How will we know if inquiry-based learning is successful, and what non-standardized measures of achievement, like better attitude, apply?
Rob Hatfield, M.Ed.'s insight:

All educators need to strike a fair and balanced approach when using Inquiry-Based Learning within your teaching and learning environments.

Techniques for Unleashing Student Work from Learning Management Systems | Mind/Shift | 21st Century Teaching and Technology Resources | Scoop.it
Learning management systems, like Blackboard and Moodle, have helped educators manage assignments. However, the LMS can be an obstacle to letting students take their work with them while connecting to the greater world.
Rob Hatfield, M.Ed.'s insight:

21st Century teaching and learning is adopting, modifying the technology to fit with the student learning outcomes or learning expectations. Technology is only a tool to assist with the learning objectives. This would allow for greater creativity. There is no magic bullet or LMS. The innovation must come from the teaching and learning environments ability to access, adopt, modify and create innovative 21st Century learning experiences.
