Presley Boy is a superstar jumper who competed successfully at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in 2010.

But it was all Germany in the team standings. They are, oddly enough, trained by Great Britain's Chris Bartle.

Olympic champion Rodrigo Pessoa will be the flag bearer of the Brazilian delegation at the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, to be held on July 27.


Winner of the showjumping Olympic Gold Medal in Athens 2004, Rodrigo will compete in the Olympics for the sixth time. The equestrian athlete competed in his first Olympic Games at the age of 19, in Barcelona in ​​1992.


Rodrigo has won three Olympic medals for Brazil: gold in Athens and bronze by the team in both Sydney 2000 and Atlanta 1996.


"This is a very special moment in my career," Rodrigo told the Brazilian Olympic Committee. "I received the news with great emotion. It was a very pleasant surprise. Playing in the Olympics is the dream of every athlete and (to lead) the delegation at the Opening Ceremony is a moment of great honor. I hope to have a good performance in London and represent the country very well in the Olympics. "


Rodrigo is currently in Aachen, Germany, competing in the last Grand Prix before the Olympics.


Born in Paris, Rodrigo is the son of Nelson Pessoa, one of the best riders in history.

A founder and owner of one of the largest carpet mills in the US was selected by the Belgian Equestrian Team to compete in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games.


It was announced today that Carl Bouckaert, 58, and a native of Belgium, was selected as one of five members of the Belgian equestrian three-day eventing team.


Bouckaert is a founder and owner of the nation’s third largest carpet mill, Beaulieu Group LLC.


Bouckaert qualified in the US before leaving for Europe and three months of intense training, culminating with his selection to the team. Previously, he had competed at the Olympic level for Belgium in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Denis Lynch’s selection for the Irish team for London was put on hold following a request to the Olympic Council of Ireland.


Lynch rode Lantinus as a member of the Irish team which finished third in the Nations’ Cup at Aachen, Germany on Thursday.


Following a mandatory test of the horses taking part in the competition, Lantinus tested positive for hypersensitivity of his legs.


On Tuesday Horse Sport Ireland, the Irish governing body for equestrian sport, announced that it had nominated Lynch with horse Abberbvail van het Dingeshof to the Olympic Council of Ireland. It also nominated Billy Twomey (Tinka’s Serenade).

It was remarkable and interesting when Lucinda Fredericks switched nationalities and joined her husband Clayton on the Australian team in eventing.


But it's remarkable, interesting and almost sounds like a scene from a movie that Australia's Lyndal Oatley is set to ride not with but against her husband, Sweden's Patrik Kittel, in dressage at London.

Chris Burton and Underdiscussion won the individual DHL Prize at CHIO Aachen eventing in Germany today. Germany's Michael Jung and La Biosthetique Sam, the reigning world champions of eventing, were second; Great Britain's Laura Collett was third with Rayef.


British-based Burton, who was recently named to represent Australia on his nation's team at the London Olympic Games, finished inside the time on cross-country to end on a dressage score of 38.80.


Underdiscussion is a 14-year-old Hanoverian gelding by Lantham. Burton was also tenth with Haruzac, a ten-year-old Thoroughbred. Jung also had two horses in the top ten; he was eighth with Leopin.


Looking ahead to London: Germany had five horses in the top ten placings at Aachen and also won the Nation's Cup CICO3*.

Denis Lynch, recently named to Ireland's showjumping squad for the London Olympic Games, has made a statement regarding the disqualification (for hypersensitivity) of his horse Lantinus at CHIO Aachen.

Lynch contends that heat detected in the horse's limb during the hypersensitivity exam was simply the horse's natural inflammation response to some small cuts incurred in the past few days.

@FranJurga writes: The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the Court of Arbitration for Sport has not reached--or at least not announced--a decision in Hayley Beresford's claim that she should be riding for her country at London.


To add to the sticky mix, Hayley outrode two riders who were selected to represent Australia, with a higher score at the World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany on Thursday.
