Edited from news supplied by the USEF Communications Department
Lexington, KY - The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) has updated the entry for the Aachen CICO3*.

The pair has been replaced by Marilyn Little and RF Smoke on the Water, owned by Raylyn Farms Inc. and Phoebe and Michael Manders. They originally were slated to compete as individuals. The following four combinations have been named to the Land Rover U.S. Eventing Team for the Aachen CICO3*(listed in alphabetical Order):
- Tiana Coudray (Ojai, CA) on Jatial LLC's Ringwood Magister, a 2001 Irish Sport Horse gelding.
- Will Faudree (Hoffman, NC) on Jennifer Mosing's Pawlow, a 1999 Irish Thoroughbred gelding.
- Marilyn Little (Frederick, MD) on Raylyn Farms Inc. and Phoebe and Michael Manders' RF Smoke on the Water, a 2005 Wurttemburger gelding.

Hinesburg, VT, May 25, 2013 -- Equestrian Tours has organized travel programs to major equestrian events since 1984 including every World Equestrian Games since Stockholm in 1990.
As the Official U.S. Ticketing Agent for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2014 in Normandy, Equestrian Tours is offering an Accommodations Package and fully Hosted Programs for the World Equestrian Games as well as Pre-Tours of Paris & the Seine.
Owner and equestrian enthusiast, Bob Wyatt shares details about this program and others he has planned for 2014 & 2015 on their web site, equestours.com.
"For the 2014 World Equestrian Games we have reserved three charming hotels in the lovely and historic town of Bayeux for our hosted program and three more in or near Lisieux for our accommodations package. In line with our contract with 2014 Normandie Organization, we will be providing transfers to Caen, Haras du Pin, and Mont St. Michel for the various competitions.”
Equestrian Tours offers a unique format for their travel programs as explained by Wyatt.
"We don't call our offerings tours because, although we put together groups of interested (and interesting) people to attend an equestrian event, we don't insist on structuring their day.
“Our gatherings bring wonderful people together with similar interests and we stand back and let you enjoy yourselves. You will never be herded, there won't be head counts."
Learn more about the World Equestrian Games and Wyatt's other equestrian programs by visiting his website at equestriantours (dot) com.
Equestrian Tours wants potential Normandy 2014 visitors to understand that although their programs are available for reservation now, ticket sales will not begin until mid-June.

Can Helen continue her form and become the Reem Acra FEI World Cup Champion of 2013? It's an exciting finale as the top riders finally ride against each other in the same event.

Global Champions Tour Announces 5* International Showjumping Event for London's Olympic Park in June
via press release (edited 2 April 2013)
The world’s leading show jumping championships will be staged at The International Quarter, adjacent to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, cementing the extraordinary equestrian legacy from the London Olympic Games.
Global Champions Tour will bring world class 5* show jumping to the capital from June 6 - 9 2013 with the full support of Mayor of London Boris Johnson and his Chief of Staff Sir Edward Lister. It will be one of the first international sporting events in the Olympic Park since the London Games and comes only weeks before the site opens fully to the public.
Britain’s Olympic show jumping gold medallists will be competing in the Global Champions Tour event along with the world’s Top 30 riders. Record prize money of around €750,000 will be on offer during the four days of the event.
Swiss watchmaker Longines is the main partner and official timekeeper and Eurosport will broadcast the GCT Grand Prix on Saturday worldwide.
The high profile international event will be staged next to the world famous Olympic Stadium and other state-of-the-art Olympic venues like the aquatics centre. An application to stage the event at Kensington Gardens was turned down by the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.
The Olympic venue will be a major visitor attraction and a stunning addition to the prestigious Global Champions Tour circuit.
Iain Graham, Chief Executive for British Showjumping, commented: “We applaud the commitment and proactivity Peter (Phillips) and his team have shown in identifying such a prestigious venue. By identifying the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, they have not only found a superb venue to showcase our sport, but a venue which can only serve to reignite the enthusiasm the Nation embraced us with when Great Britain won Team Gold. One of our Legacy hopes was that we would be able to bring world class Showjumping back into the heart of the city where so many Olympic dreams were made; we feel extremely fortunate to see these hopes realised.”
A grandstand for 3,000 spectators, paying between £10 and £50, will be erected around the arena with corporate hospitality marquees for 700 people alongside. A shopping village and a giant TV screen will also be available for the public.

It's a look: USEF's Protective Headgear Rule Change for Dressage Goes into Effect April 1, 2013
The United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) wishes to remind all dressage competitors of the rule change to DR120. This change goes into effect on April 1, 2013 and necessitates the usage of protective headgear by anyone mounted on the grounds at all USEF dressage competitions.
DR120 has been amended to require protective headgear as follows:
From the time horses are officially admitted to the competition grounds by competition management, anyone mounted on a horse at any time on the competition grounds including non-competing riders, riders on non-competing horses, and those competing in all classes and tests, including Para-Equestrian tests must wear protective headgear as defined by this rule and otherwise in compliance with GR801.
Any rider violating this rule at any time must immediately be prohibited from further riding until such headgear is properly in place.
Protective headgear is defined as a riding helmet which meets or exceeds ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)/SEI(Safety Equipment Institute) standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. The harness must be secured and properly fitted.
If there are questions regarding this rule or the use of protective headgear at USEF dressage competitions please contact Hallye Griffin by email at hgriffin@usef.org or by phone (859) 225-6918.

Forget about EHV, shedding horses, snowstorms and The Sequester. Come with Dutch photographer Charlotte Dumas as she explores the quiet intimacy of sleeping horses in an exhibit currently running in New York City.
We all know the peace of a late night in a barn full of horses. Many of us can find out way around our barns without turning the lights on. The sounds, the smells and now the sight of sleeping, dozing horses are part of bonding in our roles as caregivers.
Charlotte goes there, takes us with her, and stuns us with her proximity to some of the most important horses in the USA: The caisson horses--mostly Lipizzaners--used for military funerals at Arlington National Cemetery outside Washington DC.

Video: Akeem Foldager and Andreas Helgtrand at a demonstration last week. The pair have only been together for three weeks.
Something special happened at "Horses and Dreams" today in Germany. The CDI4* was won by Denmark's Andreas Helgstrand riding his new mount Akeem Foldager. It was the pair's first competition and they have only been together for three weeks.
This video shows them a week ago doing a demonstration ride.
The goal is for Akeem to be Helgstrand's mount to represent Denmark in the European Champions this summer. They're off to a great start and will presumably be competing in the freestyle tomorrow.
Steffen Peters and Legolas were second at Hagen and will also be in the freestyle tomorrow.

"For those who aren’t aware, I was eliminated in my Olympic debut in London this past year. Chrevi’s Capital and I were performing our grand prix test in the Olympic stadium during a horrific downpour.
"Unfortunately, Capital spooked and I was eliminated when we were not able to continue our test within in the 20-second time allowed.
"As there are only three riders per team and all three scores counted for a team result, my individual elimination meant that the Canadian Team was automatically eliminated as well..."

The International Horse Sport (IHS) Champions Cup CDI-W hit the ground running both literally and figuratively with all the horses passing the FEI jog on the beautiful International Horse Sport Showgrounds in Loxahatchee, FL.
The horses and competitors settled into the comfortable surroundings featuring plenty of green spaces and a convivial atmosphere on the historic grounds that also play host to the Palm Beach Dressage Derby.
Competitors chatted amiably as they waited for the jog, which all the FEI horses passed.
Noticeably missing were USA’s Tina Konyot and Calecto V and Canada’s Jacqueline Brooks and D Niro, who scratched from the competition. Just six days ago, Konyot said she was going to step it up a notch in the Champions Cup’s Saturday afternoon Grand Prix Freestyle.
Konyot and Calectov V needed one more qualifying score to be eligible for the Reem Acra FEI World Cup in April in Gothenburg, Sweden.
This weekend’s IHS Champions Cup was to be the pair’s last chance to qualify as the show serves as the final North American League World Cup qualifying event.

Take 13 minutes out of your life and watch the farewell performance of Anky van Grunsven's Salinero. The two-time Olympic gold medal winning horse was retired tonight in the Brabanthallen in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.
(So sorry, the headline link is not correct; the site has a cookie popup so the correct link is: http://nos.nl/video/485338-laatste-kur-salinero-en-anky.html
And yes, the announcer is speaking in Dutch but once the pianist starts, you won't hear anything else!)
I've never retired a dressage horse, but I think this is how we'd all like to do it: as a performance in a spotlight, with a sound horse going out to a standing ovation...not just a press release, never to be seen again.
Anky enjoyed enormous success with the 19-year-old Hannoverian.
As the FEI's Louise Parkes writes: "(Salinero's) career might well have been overshadowed by the memory of his revered predecessor, Bonfire who, together with van Grunsven, first brought Freestyle Dressage to center stage.
"Salinero however followed faithfully in those very famous hoofprints to become a star in his own right, taking Olympic individual gold in Athens in 2004 and again at the equestrian events of the Beijing Olympic Games in Hong Kong four years later.
"And he helped van Grunsven to become the most prolific winner of the FEI World Cup™ Dressage title - she won it nine times over a 13-year period between 1995 and 2008.
"Salinero first came to prominence in 2003 with victory in the Dutch National Championship and was part of the Dutch bronze medal winning team at the London 2012 Olympic Games at Greenwich Park last summer which brought his spectacular career to a fitting conclusion."
Anky and Salinero gave me ten years of thrilling performance and amazingly close competition. They helped bring artistic expression into the sport of dressage and Anky's not done yet.
Salinero always seemed to enjoy leaving the arena more than entering it, so tonight was his night, in a very big way. He never has to go in there again, but the dressage world will be a little empty without him.
