For over 70 years this festival has been honouring the different cru wines and terroirs of Burgundy through tasting sessions and traditional ceremonies. The Saint-Vincent Tournante is a Bacchic occasion that is warm and welcoming, bringing a great many people together for two days of festivities. At the end of January the Brotherhoods of Burgundy come together in long processional parades. The main winter event on the Riviera is one of the largest carnivals in the world, offering a programme of unforgettable entertainment … from 13th to 28th February 2016. The carnival processions, comprising 18 floats work their way up to a crescendo of gigantic celebrations on the Place Masséna. These giant, colourful parades take place day and night, with entertainment provided by over 1,000 musicians and dancers from across the world.
Saint Nicholas'day in Nancy Due to the recent tragic events, we will not be able to organize the traditional yearly gatherings of the Saint Nicolas’ weekend (this year on December 4th, 5th and 6th) as we usually do. Large gatherings such as the firework displays on Stanislas Square on Friday 4th and the parade on Saturday 5th cannot be held and are thus postponed until 2016. Nevertheless, the celebrations of Saint Nicolas from November 27th to January 9thy will not only be maintained but enhanced.

... Since 1991, the French Astronomy Festival takes place in August in Fleurance where more than 10.000 people attend this summer event, the largest European festival on astronomy and space topics. More than 50 international researchers as well as astronauts are welcomed and give lectures to everyone coming to the festival over the week. Since 2006, Astro-jeunes, a kids festival, is organized during the same week, and welcomes more than 200 children per day to unveil them the mysteries of our Universe and the Space conquest history. A dozen of children from this festival and the Fleurance high-school "Hubert Reeves" (sponsor of the Festival) have prepared this contact both with their physics and English teachers.
This international Festival of music and folk dances brings together around 200 to 300,000 spectators each summer. People come from all over, ready to discover new cultures and customs from the four corners of the world.
There are between 15 and 20 folklore groups invited to the festival, representing 15 countries over the 5 continents, and 600 musicians.
A golden rule: they perform on stage accompanied by their musicians.
In the evening, the opening ceremony on the square outside the town-hall, inaugurates each new festival.
Based on a different theme each year, the groups appear on stage after the traditional kindling of the flame.

For the World Music evening, a group embodying tradition and creation, blending acoustic and electric music, will be playing in concert.
Over these past 50 years, the festival can boast some big names among their guests: Touré Kunda, Kassav, Khaled, Manu Dibando, Tri Yann, Johnny Clegg, Faudel, Bernard Lavilliers, I Muvrini, Jimmy Cliff, Enrico Macias, etc...
For the closing evening, the public normally dresses in white, a symbol of peace and union between all people. At this point, the torches are taken away and this is followed by the flame being extinguished and a large party where all the countries are represented.
The Off Festival gives the opportunity to experience world music, a exhibition area of world crafts, a fast-food with a free party every evening. From Monday to Friday there are dance workshops, to learn about the dances of one’s country, and all this led by the music of a folklore group.
