## Adding fractions with like denominators recipe activity

This is a fun review-and real life, activity for students who have been practicing adding fractions with like denominators. You can adjust this recipe to suit
Kimberly Wynkoop's insight:

When working with fractions were created something similar to this activity.  We created smore fractions.  Our students had to write there recipe for there fractions of each ingredient to create their own unique smore.  If you could not heat up the smores activity the activity above would be a good option.

## KnowledgeBox Math Games | FactMonster.com

Kimberly Wynkoop's insight:

We have some students who are below level.  This website has many games that students could play to help them have a better understanding of fractions and how they relate to one another.

The Jetstangs rap some lyrics to help people learn to use fractions, decimals, percents, ratios, etc.
Kimberly Wynkoop's insight:

This video is a great way to quickly provide a review for working with fractions.  It is also made a beat that most students will know so it will be catchy and easy for them to recall the rules.

## Decimal Operations Flow Chart (Add, Subtract, Multiply and Divide) Updated

This is an updated version of my original free product.
Kimberly Wynkoop's insight:

This flow chart is a good resource for students to be able to see the rules when working with decimals.  My class is often asking for something that they can put in their binder because they like to have quick assess to their notes.  They like the notes in their binder so they can use them at home.

## Fraction Bars Chart (1 whole-twelfths and sixteenths)

Make a copy of these fraction bars for your students. I copy them on card stock so they can be used throughout our fraction unit. For a simpler version check
Kimberly Wynkoop's insight:

Our students got a copy of fraction bar and then colored and cut them so they could always have maniplatives to work with.  Fractions are a very tough concept for many so providing students with a manipulative that is easy and always avaliable is a good thing to do in your classroom.

Mar Catungal's curator insight,

## Mixed numbers and improper fractions - YouTube

Kimberly Wynkoop's insight:

This is another Khan Academy video that would be good to post to our website to help with reteaching.  These videos show you ways to get to the answer and then try to explain why.  I think the best part about these videos is the explanation part.

## Multiple examples multiplying decimals

Kimberly Wynkoop's insight:

We have a class website that we post homework everyday on.   I think a good addition to this website would be a video showing what we are learning.  We have many parents who are often saying that they are not able to help their students complete their homework.  It is very heard to learn math but reading a textbook. I think the video could either help parents get a better understanding or even help those students who would just like to see the strategies to solve a problem again.

## Multiplication with Decimals Showdown!

If you download this - please leave me some feedback! Would love to know if this worked for you! :) This is a great cooperative learning activity! Students
Kimberly Wynkoop's insight:

This was another activity downloaded from teacherspayteachers.com.  This is the activity that we ended up using. I really liked the activity because it was working in a group but you needed to be able to solve the problem on your own.  I think sometimes students just sit back and wait for the answer but with this activity everyone has to be an active partcipant.
