Totally agree, we have to figure out what LMS to build instruction and assessment for students. Unless there is another big change out there, Google Classroom is looking pretty good to use as LMS across devices.

Yes, the emphasis must be on skills. Lifelong learning is not gathering ever larger amounts of content knowledge, but the forever refining one's ability to apply one's intellectual skills to the tasks at hand.
