WeFi: Find & Auto-Connect To Best Public WiFi Hotspots Near You | formation 2.0 | Scoop.it

Back in 2009, we covered WeFi, a free windows application that let you find best WiFi hotspots anywhere around the globe. The application has come a long way since, adding new features like auto-connection for specified networks, support for mobile platforms, combined with a completely redesigned interface. It extends the functionality of your default Wi-Fi management utility, and provides hotspot maps for easy identification of public (Wi-Fi) hotspots in the vicinity. The application comes with numerous connection modes, including automatic connection (for any Wi-Fi) and approved WeSpots, and your favorite Wi-Fi networks. One of the best features of this application is that users can also identify hotspots and add them to the WeFi database to help other users easily identify public Wi-Fi hotspots. How to get Google Maps back in iOS6

How to get Google Maps back in iOS6 | formation 2.0 | Scoop.it

With the release of new iOS 6, Apple has made a change in maps by releasing iOS 6 maps replacing the popular Google Maps. Apple maps although had some stunning features in the form of flyovers (3D), it was criticized for its lack of proper routes and some of them were wrongly marked. Moreover the iOS 6 Maps worked well only in US and certain other countries and not effective across all locations. Now if you want Google maps back as an application, Google is yet to release the maps.

But for users of iOS, there is a work around for this. You can create Google maps as a home screen app. To do this, open maps.google.com in Safari browser on iPhone or iPad. You can do the same for Nokia Maps (maps.nokia.com) as Nokia has an excellent web version of its maps.
