It’s a good question right?  My client today asked me about this. There are some bakers out there that use one or the other or both.  At RBI Cakes we choose to use fondant.  Our fondant tastes...

 

The trick here is making sure your fondant tastes good! It is definitely easier to design on, but if it tastes wrong, the whole cake is gone. Think about it, this material is covering the WHOLE cake. If the marshmallow taste comes through too strong, you're going to have guests peeling off hours of labor and concentration, which is the most painful thing to ever witness.

This looks amazing. I gave up chocolate for my news years resolution because I too have an unhealthy obsession with everything chocolate. I've gone 3 months and four days though. These pictures are making me rethink my decision to give up chocolate... but I just can't give in!

YES. I've had Dirt in a cup before (Homecoming earlier this year, anyone? Anyone? Bueller?), and it always tastes fantastic. Now ... the sheer thought of combining Dirt with cupcakes is almost too much to bear. I think the room these things are baked in might actually implode due to too much awesomeness.

Chocolate, coffee, cookies and minimal mess. Guess what I'm doing this weekend? This kind of cookie is perfect for late nights on campus or when you want a snack on the go.

Oh man, if I ever SAW this in real time, I would be forever in that persons debt. I found the tray this was made in though, but I'm not knowledgeable enough in the art of chocolate to know how the molten center was put in. I DO, however, believe in trial and error to figure it out though.

Muffins are a great take on this. I always enjoy taking large things like pie or cake and making them into muffins. It makes it easier to only take one, and it's way easier to give someone a cupcake than a slice of cake. :)
