GMOs & FOOD, WATER & SOIL MATTERS

Here's an older event that shows how far these companies are willing to go and spend to keep citizen/consumers from making informed choice in shopping and in what they injest through food or allow in the environment.

The labeling of genetically modified food is ground zero in the controversy over GMOs made by companies like Monsanto (NYSE:MON) and Dupont (NYSE:DD), and the issue is likely to grow even more divisive as food safety groups butt heads with Congress and Big Ag over the right to know what's on our plates.

Among the states making major strides toward passing GMO-labeling legislation are Oregon, Connecticut and Vermont, whose House of Representatives passed such a bill earlier this year. Vermont’s legislature has two-year sessions, so if the state Senate passes it next year, and Gov. Peter Shumlin signs it, it will become state law.

The lead sponsor of the bill, known as H 112, is state Rep. Kate Webb, a Democrat who argues that the public should have access to as much information as possible about the food they eat.

Looks like a interesting documentary. We'll have to keepour eyes open and try to view the whole film.

I'm glad I've nearly stopped drinking these things!

Now we know for sure this was a health and environmental risk and there seems to be evidence the companies knew for decades and tried hard to make sure the general public did ot know.

“If the King Amendment survives, and is included in the 2013 Farm Bill, it will wipe out more than 150 state laws governing agriculture, food and food safety,” said Ronnie Cummins, National Director of the OCA. “The biotech industry knows that it’s only a matter of time before Washington State, Vermont, Maine, Connecticut and other states pass GMO labeling laws. Rather than fight this battle in every state, Monsanto is trying to manipulate Congress to pass a Farm Bill that will wipe out citizens’ rights to state laws intended to protect their health and safety.”

The King Amendment, inserted into the Farm Bill under the guise of protecting interstate commerce, passed out of the House Agricultural Committee on Wednesday, May 15. IThe amendment was proposed by Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), largely in response to a California law stating that by 2015, California will allow only eggs to be sold from hens housed in cages specified by California. But policy analysts emphasize that the amendment, broadly and ambiguously written, could be used to prohibit or preempt any state GMO labeling or food safety law.

This is what happens when people feel they have been lied, manipulated and forced to do something they did not choose to do and they feel is both unethical and immoral.

This could become true sooner than you know! Much sooner than you think. Are you ready for the change....Sit back and do nothing and then you can wait and pick your "PLAN".

Do not except the content companies or others for profit major players to come to our aid unless we force them to listen.

Fine with me if Monsanto does not personally raise the children and negletes to feed water and harvest them ...They should not be allowed to claim any type of ownership after the seed is bought and cared for by farmers. Though I don't want these farmer's products and if they are there I want them all labeled. NO patents on life period! If it can breed you only own what breeds on your own land by your own hand.

This is too sad and embarrassing to expand on.

An interesting sad story. This shows how things we don't know can hurt us. Today we have many ways to learn about things that weren't available even 30 years ago so there is little excuse for not trying to know what is going on in our world, work and environment. We do not have all the answers but we know alot and we will figure more things out if we put our heads, stories, observations and the massive technological data collection ability together to figure things out.

We have to pay attention to what these lobbist are dealing for in DC and in the State houses as well. Folks at least everyone needs to sign up for watchdog groups to alert them to major happening we might need to know.
