The gist of the story is that 1.5 million younger people in Greece, many with college degrees, want to farm during this aftermath of Greece’s financial crisis. Their problem is the limited availability of water, the cost of power, fertilizer, and petroleum. Some of them expressed the opinion that Greece prefers to import food instead of produce it, making the nation food insecure. The film is a visual feast, especially if you like the Mediterranean diet......

England may be facing a Passover without chicken soup. Nearly all of the chickens slaughtered in kosher plants in recent weeks were found to be unkosher. “In its statement, the Kashrus Committee of the Union of Orthodox Hebrew Congregations said that the 80% of slaughtered chickens had broken leg tendons, which makes them unfit for kosher consumption.”

SCIENTISTS at the Food and Drug Administration systematically monitor the meat and poultry sold in supermarkets around the country for the presence of disease-causing bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics. These food products are bellwethers that tell us how bad the crisis of antibiotic resistance is getting. And they’re telling us it’s getting worse.
But this is only part of the story. While the F.D.A. can see what kinds of antibiotic-resistant bacteria are coming out of livestock facilities, the agency doesn’t know enough about the antibiotics that are being fed to these animals. This is a major public health problem, because giving healthy livestock these drugs breeds superbugs that can infect people. We need to know more about the use of antibiotics in the production of our meat and poultry. The results could be a matter of life and death. Via David Rowing Delete the scoop?

Most days I don't miss breakfast at all. But then, a full English is one of the great treat meals of any cuisine, as they recognised when they started promoting the all-day breakfast. I abandoned breakfast shortly after I started the Shangri-la eating system (I hate that it is called a diet) and I've slept better, and eaten less, ever since. Delete the scoop?
