Having the ability to communicate needs and/or self-regulate is a building block to learning.
Jem Muldoon's insight:

We are turning the corner. Relieved.

"Choosing a school and navigating through all the paperwork is stressful, but watching your child take that “next-step” is the reward. Model for your child the emotional intelligence you want them to emulate. Be aware of your own and your child’s feelings, set goals, be empathetic and balanced as you set forth in your quest to find that school for your son or daughter."

The value of emotional intelligence is applicable for both education & business. Social intelligence also plays a role, and is sometimes even more important.
Jem Muldoon's insight:

From the article:

“You can be the most brilliant innovator, problem-solver or strategic thinker, but if you can’t inspire and motivate, build relationships or communicate powerfully, those talents will get you nowhere,” says Goleman, pointing out how crucial social intelligence is for leaders. Leaders need to coordinate people with resources, to understand needs, motivations, boundaries, reactions, and limits, and none of this can be accomplished without keen social awareness."

These new Rs represent mindsight - which grows intuition, empathy, and balances emotions.  When we focus on the integrated brain, we have students that understand they are part of a larger whole, intuned to themselves, and committed and responsibility to others. We have students who feel connected to others, have wisdom in their lives, and have a sense of responsibility.
