Delivering critical competencies to time-constrained businesses
A major trade body delivers critical training solutions to its members nationally. Aware that traditional workshop training was losing favor, they wanted to create an online solution using the latest technology.

Because their members have very limited time available, they wanted a solution that could deliver practical on-line learning that automatically personalized to the needs of each user.

What a great piece (not long) about storytelling and organizational change.

I really like how the author Marla Gottschalk talks about how storytelling can get the ball rolling when an company needs to change. Especially when there is not a critical event 'igniting' the need for change.

I also like how Gottschalk reminds us to honor the past as we embark on change, give the change the deference it deserves (honor what is happening), and add pomp. These 3 points are often forgotten in the rush or push to change.

There are nice insights here that can help us all.

"After endless engagement with time management, control and productivity, I would like to suggest a revolutionary idea. It is so revolutionary that it is hard to perceive and is counter intuitive. Here is the idea: "linear time exists in our consciousness. It is only one way to perceive time" this is not easy to perceive. We are indoctrinated to perceive reality as moving through a linear time line. All our computing and paradigms relate to this perception."

Managing Innovation (adaptive learning program)

Managing Innovation (adaptive learning program) | Organization Performance and Adaptive Personalized Learning Focus | Scoop.it

Innovation is more than a random set of good ideas. It is the force that creates the future. It needs to be purposeful, aligned, as efficient as possible, and it needs to deliver value. Innovation requires specific organizational capabilities, reflected in its culture, systems, and processes. At the same time, and in relation to organizational capability, it requires individuals to have the mind-sets and skill-sets to initiate, manage, lead, and sustain the process of moving new (to you) ideas into action.

If you want to see the future workplace - here it is and the guiding principles to make it happen. Love the emphasis on leanring & collabroation and the work is an activity not a place.

People (especially students) do not like multiple logins. In fact with personal devices, they don't even like to login :)

Ivon Prefontaine, PhD's curator insight, January 31, 2013 7:33 PM

The emerging workplace is both a space and a place. We no longer need to be side-by-side, but it does not preclude this from happening. Too often, people use digital technology to send a message when they could walk down the hall.
