Interesting points on the subject.  Yet there are still many common elements of these flood stories that are repeated through out many variations and cultures.  No not all of them say the exact same thing.  In many of the stories the names change, the time spans of the flood rain vary widely and there are many other differences from one story to another.  

 

But why are there so many corralations between so many different stories and cultures.  The common story elements that do show up in a lot of these different stoies suggests that all of these stories must have some common origin.  Each retelling gets embelished but some of the original ideas still remains.  

 

To me is suggests that an event occured that made a distinct impression on the people who passed down the story.  And that all versions or retellings of that story seem to be based on this event, a common point of origin.
