When You Go Flat, You Never Go Back: Meet the Flat Classroom! - Classroom 2.0

When You Go Flat, You Never Go Back: Meet the Flat Classroom! - Classroom 2.0 | Flipping good | Scoop.it

Directors and co-founders of Flat Classroom started creating global collaborative projects in 2006. Since then 1000's of students and 100's of educators across 25+ countries have been part of a series of projects, many live events, and a dynamic online network. But wait! Being flat does not always mean going global. The Flat Classroom is a pedagogical approach to teaching and learning that starts with connecting the teacher to the class and then looking beyond. The Flat Classroom mission is to provide support, encouragement, strategies and pedagogy for classrooms globally to learn how to connect and sustain collaborative working modes. Teachers who want to inspire learners through intercultural awareness, enhanced digital citizenship skills and attitudes and connected learning will find useful tools and resources through attending this session.

In this session we will:

Share pedagogical approaches to connecting and collaborating in the classroom K-12, and beyond!Explore Flat Classroom ProjectsBrowse tools and resources available for global collaborationShare stories of connected learningCome to an understanding of what a Flat Classroom is and how any teacher can flatten their classroom walls now

Teachers' Practical Guide to A FLipped Classroom

Unlike the numerous graphics I shared here on the topic of flipped learning which were substantially theoretically based, the one I have for you today provides a practical demonstration of how Dr.Russell flipped his classroom . The graphic also features some of the activities and procedures he drew in his flipped instruction. Another section of this graphic highlights some of the bearings of this flipped methodology on students performance particularly in terms of the enhanced test scores. The purpose behind sharing this visual is to provide you with a concrete example of how you can go about integrating a flipped learning methodology in your instruction. This is only a paradigmatic example which you can adapt with due modifications to your own teaching situation.

In 'flipped classrooms,' teachers lecture online, use class for practice

Sheridan is among a growing number of teachers using a "flipped" classroom structure, in which students learn concepts outside class, leaving more time to practice with teachers and peers during school. She adopted the model last year, and positive results led to an expansion this year into the second and third grades at Sand Pine Elementary in Wesley Chapel.

Classroom management and the Flipped Classroom
