A flipped classroom is one where the lectures become the homework and the traditional homework tasks take place in the lesson time. This enables students to attend sessions with an understanding of the subject and to conceptualise and build upon it through doing exercises in class, with you, as the tutor, on hand to answer questions and explore the topic in more detail

I was initially introduced to a flipped classroom by one of my colleagues from another campus. At first I was confused about what it actually meant and how to implement it. This reading does a great job of defining it in a way that I can share with my fellow math colleagues at my campus.

As the school year starts, many teachers are wanting to implement flipped learning into their classes. Before you begin, I encourage you to answer each of the questions below. The purpose of the questions is to help teachers BEGIN the process of flipping their class. This is only the first step. Flipped Class 101 can lead to Flipped Learning, which is a second stage of the Flipped Class. Many teachers are asking for some step by step guidelines as they begin.

Once you understand the purpose of a 'Flipped Classroom', you need to look at the best way to achieve success.  In addition to suggesting questions that you should ask yourself before 'flipping' your class teaching, the article lists a number of potential tools to be used for recording your offline material.
