Use images when you are trying to get to students to write too. Research shows they write more when they have an image to view.

Blended learning and the flipped classroom

Blended learning and the flipped classroom | Flipped Classroom | Scoop.it

What exactly do these terms mean? How much online content is the right amount? What sorts of sites and apps should we be using? How can we convincingly recommend new technologies to students who are more technologically savvy than we are? Do we need a radical rethink of the way we present information to learners?

What Is A Flipped Classroom? (Updated For 2013) - Edudemic

What Is A Flipped Classroom? (Updated For 2013) - Edudemic | Flipped Classroom | Scoop.it

"Flipped learning has been around for awhile. It’s a rethinking of the standard classroom model that puts students in the driver’s seat. With the influx of technology into education, the flipped classroom model has really taken off. In fact, it’s one of the hottest education trends we’ve been monitoring on Edudemic for the past 4 years. We published a useful guide to flipped classrooms many moons ago but were excited to see an updated visual guide to flipped classrooms from the fine folks at We Are Teachers http://bit.ly/15eBlsn . It details the basics of flipping, apps that you should use in a flipped classroom, and more."

Flipped classroom is not a new concept as some would argue but only the advance of technology particularly the mobile and handheld gadgetry brought it to the surface and gave it more prominence . I have written profusely about this teaching/learning strategy and  Flipped Learning Resources section here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning features some of these materials.

Today, however, I am sharing with you a set of some wonderful apps that you can use to create short video lessons and tutorials to share with your students."

8 Steps To Flipped Teacher Professional Development - te@chthought

8 Steps To Flipped Teacher Professional Development - te@chthought | Flipped Classroom | Scoop.it

"The idea here isn’t simply that educators can improve by connected through social networks–they already are doing that. Rather, that schools can decentralize the teacher training effort by cutting them loose and supporting their self-directed efforts through an array of resources. The purpose of this post, beyond clarifying some how social media-driven and self-directed teacher professional development might work, is to offer some (mostly) concrete ideas for actually getting started designing such a program in your school or district. We would love to hear any suggestions in the comments because, well, that’d be social of you."

Excellent description between these two terms. Flipped ;earning can change learning for thousands of students who otherwise would have no help outside of class. I was one of those unfortunate students. I wish this concept had its origin in my day. Oh well, now I get to instruct educators about its value. You should too!

Why I Flip-Flopped on the Flipped Classroom

Why I Flip-Flopped on the Flipped Classroom | Flipped Classroom | Scoop.it

As our classroom shifted from teacher- to student-centered, my students began to do the majority of their own research. Sometimes, this means they teach each other. Sometimes, they create a project around the knowledge they are acquiring. Sometimes, they create their own driving questions. Sometimes, they create their own units.
