Ossiannilsson, Ebba: Benchmarking e-learning in higher education: Lessons learned from international projects - Doctoral dissertation 2012

"This doctoral dissertation revealed challenges to integrate external quality audits and internally driven benchmarking. The studies have likewise revealed the need for methodological changes by quality assurance bodies and authorities carrying out audit and accreditation for integrating e-learning into quality assurance, as well as the need to fully understand the complexity and the special characteristics of e-learning. Probably, the challenge lies not with the system, success factors or benchmarks but in the lack of knowledge and experience of e-learning systems amongst those charged with implementation. The concept benchlearning was introduced as part of benchmarking exercises."

Educación de hoy, ¿cambio radical? | Contextos universitarios mediados | Educación flexible y abierta | Scoop.it

To MOOC or Not to MOOC? | Inside Higher Ed

To MOOC or Not to MOOC? | Inside Higher Ed | Educación flexible y abierta | Scoop.it

November 29, 2012 - 3:00am
By
W. Joseph King and Michael Nanfito
It seems at present that nearly every American college and university is wrestling with the question of whether to offer MOOCs (massive open online courses). There is something irresistibly seductive about the idea of simultaneously reaching thousands of students everywhere in the world, effectively seating them in an infinite virtual lecture hall. Indeed, the idea has taken on such allure that the University of Virginia (temporarily, as it turned out) fired its president, Teresa Sullivan, for among other things not jumping immediately on the online bandwagon.

Pontydysgu – Where are going with Personal LEarning Environments?

Linda Castaneda emailed me. “As I have already told you, Jordi Adell and myself, are editing a book about PLEs in Spanish. It is not a commercial book, we are going to edit some hard copies for free and an open ebook in the Web. The idea is to offer an overview of PLE for teachers (as complete as possible), in plain, trying to explain what PLE means in general but, specially, what PLEs mean for formal education.

5: Social Learning strategies « Centre for Learning & Performance Technologies | Educación flexible y abierta | Scoop.it

This is the fifth Chapter of the Social Learning Handbook.

Now that “social learning” is becoming a hot topic, organizations are beginning to consider how they can implement or operationalize it.

We have already seen that social media is a very different beast from normal enterprise tools, particularly because it is being used at the grass roots rather than being implemented top-down by the organization. Social tools are not only changing the way that we think about “learning” but also how we apply them. This then begs the question, what is the best way to implement social learning within an organization?
