What Is PBL Really?

What Is PBL Really? | Educación flexible y abierta | Scoop.it

"Do you want to engage your students in Project Based Learning (PBL)? Maybe you are asking yourself what is PBL really?  Am I doing it right?

Well, first of all, the most important thing to understand is that PBL is a construct made up by human beings and so there are lots of variations!  And you are entitled to construct your own version, too, within some parameters.

My suggestion is to study many of the great resources that are available to you and then create your own working definition and effective PBL practice.  (I’ve included some of my favourite resources below.)"

The Mobile Learning Future of Education (Part 2)

The Mobile Learning Future of Education (Part 2) | Educación flexible y abierta | Scoop.it

Dr Justin Marquis concludes: "Overall, the piece by Sergio is a  well-considered extrapolation of where current mLearning technologies may take us in the near future. It is an extremely optimistic piece that imagines a more egalitarian world made possible by mobile solutions and the Internet. While  some of the concepts have very significant obstacles to overcome before they become a reality, there is a great hope that mobile technologies can and will  have a profound impact on changing the future of what education looks like  around the world."

Assessment tools for a flipped or blended class

Assessment tools for a flipped or blended class | Educación flexible y abierta | Scoop.it

I am designing a class that I am going to teach next year. It is going to have elements of being flipped or simply blended. In any case, I am looking into different ways in which I can assess student learning that goes on during semester, whether in the classroom or out.

Tony Bates | Nine steps to quality online learning: Step 9: Evaluate and innovate | Educación flexible y abierta | Scoop.it

In this post I discuss the importance of evaluating each offering of an online course, how best to do this, and then the importance of maintaining and improving the course.
This is the last in a series of 10 posts on designing quality online courses. The nine steps are aimed mainly at instructors who are new to online learning, or have tried online learning without much help or success.

Planning to Share versus Just Sharing

Planning to Share versus Just Sharing | Educación flexible y abierta | Scoop.it

A very interesting blog post (from 2008) which I am sure will resonnate with others. In my own research I've found a trend towards openness when projects start by setting boundaries. But this is a long process and its easier (although it may not seem so) to start with least boundaries and formalities and not 'over-think' the what might happen stuff. (Yes, I do do that I know, but I'm trying to break the habit). Thanks to Scott for this and to Jackie Carter for reminding me of it.
