Everything about Flash

Monday always has a bit of a bite. Sentiments of Monday followed this with various subjects revolving around inpatients. I guess it’s only natural when your future hangs in the balance of belief.

Well folks, the first drop of the Apache Flex SDK is now in the whiteboard, it’s your job to build it and test in your applications/IDEs. Lets see if anything broke so we can get a first release out sooner than later.

Wow a blog post that is not a summary, well yeah it is another summary but it’s about something that I am really excited about. I have in previous posts expressed my enthusiasm about the new compiler that has been designed from the ground up with cross compiling in mind. How can you not get excited about something that was designed to take on the new decade of multiple technologies!

Well it was mostly another quite Sunday except for a couple conversations about the Flash Player AVM and code quality in relation to class line size.

The Flex-Dev summaries continues. I always like doing things I thought I couldn’t do. I’m going on 10 blogs posts in a row, I have never done that before.

Logo Contest

The Apache Flex logo contest has begun! The contest will end on 01-17-2012.

I really think what I am doing here is healthy for the Apache Flex community that reads it. I have for the most part tried to keep opinions out of these summaries, not always.

The second installment of flex-dev@apache.org summaries.

I think I will write these as long as I have time and the community seems interested in a quick glance at something you might otherwise need to be completely involved in to get the full gist.

Well the weekend was probably the summation of a very active 2 weeks on the list. The main highlights were the SDK being committed without automation and required modules. Moving ahead in conversation today, various community members are voicing their frustrations at Adobe for legal issues regarding the above missing modules.

The week flew by with the logo contest and voting, huge community involvement, the creation of the flex-users mailing list and some rock solid information on the Falcon compiler.

By the time these last two weeks are over, I don’t think I will need to say or think about the word logo for awhile. Kind of like the beginning of a box of chocolate, by the end it’s more about finishing the box than enjoying the last ones.

Monday was an active day of logo entries, method overloading, source code and event handling discussions.

Saturday on the mailing list mainly consisted of logo entries. I’m sure a lot of members are just waiting for the source code to arrive and figuring out what the next steps are to Apache Flex’s first release.

The Thursday edition of flex-dev@apache.org consisted of voting debacles, best practice debates and whether or not to create a flex-user mailing list.

Well this was one of those days where you get the calm before the storm and then the storm. Yesterday was the storm of replies and misguided replies to irrelevant subject lines. Basically chaos on a mailing list.

Well this was the first Sunday edition and for those who had a life were probably resting and relaxing.

This list sure didn’t, not much of major interest happened, just some followups and simple things.
