While I was on my way to learn how to make shadows (and it’s a big topic), I met the rendering to texture method. And as I was digging into this technic, I decided to delay my journey in shadowland and to paste some time exploring the rendered textures and texture projections because it’s the first step of some great technics such as light mapping, dynamic displacement map, of course shadows , etc…
This evening, I locked myself away with a glass of Rioja determined to fix my Stage3D rendering woes once and all.Last night's efforts were so close, but I couldn't help feeling they could be tweaked a little more. Having a fixed Stage3D viewport of 1024 x 1024 felt a little limiting.

It has been a while since my last post, but i am back! Since Adobe gave the Flash community a big F*** You with their ******** Javascript engine, i gave up on flash. I am not doing Javascript or even getting close to that script because it is just a BIG step back from mature OO languages. Not that AS3 is super mature, but at least it has a descent OO structure and such. Thus i was lost for a couple of months. Left in the dark and guessing which language or techniques i should choose to do besides AS3.

This week sees a few new updates to ReDiLab - my Stage3D / AGAL based reaction diffusion laboratory.

There are two changes to the application itself:
Going into the subject of rendering flat sprites in Stage3D wich have an animation as if they were 2D. Common practice for this in Stage3D is using a spritesheet as texture and animate the uv coordinates.
