eduCanon: interactive video. unleashed. | Five Link Fridays | Scoop.it
Flipped and Blended Interactive Video Learning Platform
TaraICT's insight:

eduCanon is used for creating, assigning, and tracking students' progress on flipped lessons, might be particularly useful for the Junior School who are working on flipped classroom activities. Basically, eduCanon allows you to build flipped lessons using YouTube and Vimeo videos, create questions about the videos and then assign lessons to your students. Once you have found a video you wish to use, through eduCanon you can add questions to it at any point along its timeline, which then requires the students to answer your questions before they move on to the next portion of your chosen video – very handy! You can also track your students' progress within eduCanon. You will need a username and password for this one, but again, might be worth playing with when you have some time!

Share your videos with friends, family, and the world
TaraICT's insight:

The Guide to Common Fallacies

This is a playlist of five videos created by the PBS Ideas Channel. The aim of the videos is to get students to learn to recognise fallacies, and from there they are better equipped to create stronger arguments. This is turn assists students in participating and facilitating better classroom discussions. PBS suggest that these videos could help “high school students understand and recognize common fallacies when they see and hear them”. Might be a good way to introduce a current events concept.

All Ask Smithsonian Videos | Smithsonian

All Ask Smithsonian Videos | Smithsonian | Five Link Fridays | Scoop.it
TaraICT's insight:

This site provides two minute videos on a variety of quirky topic areas, answering questions asked by visitors to the Smithsonian. Some of the questions are a bit out there (e.g. why do bugs die on their backs?) but others, such as “does lightning ever strike twice?” and “Does acupuncture work?” would definitely get students talking! Might be useful for towards the end of term as discussion activities.
