Andrew's insight:

With food costs on the rise, we're all looking for ways to save money on groceries. Unfortunatly the food that costs the least is usually the food that's the worst for our health. If you look at the McDonalds value menu, the prices are great, but the food is loaded with fat and unhealthy chemicals. in this article i agree with #12 Preparing your meals at home because then you know everything that you put in it. i just like the idea of knowing what my food has gone through and if any chemicals were used in it.

Top 10 Ways to Improve Your Exercise Workout

Top 10 Ways to Improve Your Exercise Workout | Fitness Plan for Andrew Leffel | Scoop.it
Use these top 10 ways to improve your exercise workout, from the American Council on Exercise
Andrew's insight:

My thoughts:

The best point i found about this article is finding yourself a workout buddy. I have personally found this to be of great help in the past when I have been interested in boosting my productivity levels in the gym. Getting yourself a workout buddy helps with the process of fitness motivation, goal orientation, enthusiasm, accountability. Working as part of a team benefits you and your morale.

The biggest benefit for me has got to be the accountability element. Its almost like having your own personal trainer that you are accountable to. It puts the pressure on with regards to fulfilling your fitness goals. Thus you become productive with your workout and you improve productivity over time as you have someone to answer to, but also they are there to guide you as well.

Eat Good Food and Enjoy Good Nutrition

Andrew's insight:

My Thoughts:

Perhaps you have some extra pounds to shed. You may have tried a fad diet or two, but found yourself right back where you started. Chances are good that you have bought exercise equipment, used it for several weeks, and now it just sits - unused - in a corner somewhere.

If you improve your eating habits and increase your amount of regular physical activity, you can lose weight and boost your energy level. Behavior change focuses on learning eating and physical activity behaviors that will help you lose weight and keep it off. The first step is to uncover behaviors that lead you to overeat or be inactive. Next, you need to learn how to change those behaviors.

Getting involved in new hobbies and activities and getting support from others are good ways to maintain healthy habits. For more information, talk to a weight-loss counselor, or check out books or websites on this topic.

Make sure that your diet contains all the essential nutrients for good health. Use the nutritional facts labels to select foods that meet your daily needs. A healthful diet should include adequate vitamins, minerals, protein, carbohydrates and fiber, and limited fat and cholesterol.

Interesting Ideas And Tips For Achieving Physical Fitness | Biovive Medicine | Fitness Plan for Andrew Leffel | Scoop.it
To keep the overall quality of your life high, it's crucial that you take excellent care of yourself. It can be difficult to know what the best way to do so is.
Andrew's insight:

My thoughts:

In the Article "Interesting Ideas and Tips for Achieving Physical Fitness" it informs the reader about how diet pills that can speed up your metabolism are often dangerous and unnecessary. The same benefits from these pills are also included when you do a half week run which is where you run for half the amount of time you usually do just to make sure your body is in a comfortable state and not endangered of any permanent damage. If you go slowly in your progress you will have a more stable/healthy body. In order to stay fit you should work your abdominal muscles 2-3 times a week every other day so you have time for a full recovery just like you are working every other muscle. Fruits and vegetables are also a main concern with your health because it gives your body the full nutrition value it needs to go on throughout the day such as vital vitamins. Some other helpful tips for working out are DRINK WATER! Water keeps the body hydrated throughout the workout to give your muscles more strength and keeps your body flexible as well.

5 New Fitness Goals You Should Achieve | Fitbie

5 New Fitness Goals You Should Achieve | Fitbie | Fitness Plan for Andrew Leffel | Scoop.it
Andrew's insight:

So the first tip I want to talk about is the notion of setting up new fitness goals to be more productive. If you feel that your normal workout regime is becoming boring or that you have lost interest in the workout, then its time to rethink your strategy and set a new fitness goal that is more challenging for you.

You can either create this new challenge yourself or have a personal trainer of fitness instructor advise you on what you need to do to become more productive during your workout time.

People lose productivity in different areas purely because they have overcome their challenges and are now in the position of contentment. If you’re in that position, it is highly likely you are losing productivity during your workout and now is the time to consult or draw out your own new, refreshing, challenging exercise regime that boasts you back on top again.

Exercise Motivation: How to Get It, How to Keep It

Exercise Motivation: How to Get It, How to Keep It | Fitness Plan for Andrew Leffel | Scoop.it
Can't find the motivation to get started with an exercise program? Experts offer exercise tips that can help get you off the sofa.
Andrew's insight:

MyThoughts

1. Have the right mindset

Without the right mindset, you will be facing unnecessary difficulties. Realize that anything worth striving for will be challenging. Go into this with massive determination and focus.

When you take this seriously, your motivation to workout will automatically increase. Have the mentality of a warrior. Know that internal enemies will constantly try to stop you, those internal voices that tell you to quit. Be prepared for battle and take them down.

2. Find inspiration

Watch videos or talk to people who have achieved the fitness goals that you’re pursuing. When you see or hear story after story of people just like you who were able to transform their body, you will begin to have faith and confidence that you can do the same.

3. Meals

One of the reasons why people will tend to overeat is because they are not prepared. I love eating fast food and junk food. But since I made a commitment to working out and eating healthy, I had to cut all of that out. My eating schedule was pretty straight forward.

Making a Fitness Plan for 2012

Making a Fitness Plan for 2012 | Fitness Plan for Andrew Leffel | Scoop.it
If you're concerned about keeping your New Years' resolution to get in shape in 2012, it's vital to have a systematic plan. Here's how to make one that will work.
Andrew's insight:
My Thoughts:Step 1See your doctor. Starting a new fitness plan can take its toll on your body. This is especially true if you have not worked out in a long time--or ever. Before you step into it, make sure to get clearance from your family doctor first.Step 2Get a journal. This can be your fitness journal where you will log all the pertinent information to your fitness plan. It doesn't have to be anything elaborate. It can be as simple as a single-subject notebook.Step 3Determine your goals. Write down all the things you want to achieve into your journal. These will be your goals. Make them short term and long term, and be as precise as possible. For example, write down how much weight you want to lose, how much muscle you want to gain and how much more flexible you want to become. Also right down the amount of time you want it to take to get there, such as four weeks, eight weeks or 12 weeks.Step 4Find out your availability. This is important, especially if you work long hours at your job. Find out exactly what days and times you want to work out each week, and write them down in your journal. Treat these workout sessions as if they were actual appointments, and honor them.Step 5Plan your meals. Nutrition is a big part of a fitness plan. What you eat is going to give you energy to work out, and it is also going to aid you in recovery. Keep your diet clean, and make sure to eat plenty of nutrient-dense foods that are favorable for recovery, energy and growth such as lean meats, low-fat dairy, fish, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts and beans. Plan your meals out ahead of time, and track them in your journal for easy reference. Then you will know exactly what you are going to be eating in the days ahead so you can better prepare yourself.Step 6Track your progress. Every time you work out, track everything that you are doing. Write down the exercises reps, sets, breaks and weights being used. This way, you will always know where you are in your program, and it will give you a good reference point when you want to increase weights or change things up.
