My workout partner and I always include pullups in our workout.  This article lists four great reasons you should as well.

Why you should incorporate pullups into your workouts:

1. Pullups work almost every upper body muscle, not just your back. These include your traps, shoulders, chest, biceps, triceps, and even your core!

2. Practicing pullups increases upper body strength significantly.

3. Pullups help build your lats, which gives you a nice V-taper. The wider the taper, the smaller your waist looks.

4. Pullups help build grip strength, and that new found strength will benefit you on every other upper-body exercise as well.

The 'Build Muscle Fast' Workout Plan. #Muscle #Fitness

The 'Build Muscle Fast' Workout Plan. #Muscle #Fitness | Fitness | Scoop.it

"Building muscle size—also known as hypertrophy—is generally considered to be a slow process. It takes 6 to 8 weeks before your body is able to grow and build muscle.

It's generally thought that the strength increases beginners achieve within the first few weeks of a weight-training program are due to neural adaptations. In other words, their brains learn how to engage their muscles as they progress through the early stages of the program. However, research is beginning to challenge this belief." http://bit.ly/11SnLw9
