Christian Duque: It's a special treat for us to be able to include a
rising star in the fitness industry; a woman that truly brings her best to
the always expanding world of social media. I'd like to welcome Diva
Richards to the StrengthAddicts.com audience. Diva, please take this
opportunity to introduce yourself (full name, age, ht, weight (contest &
regular), hometown, & homegym) (you can include anything else you'd
like to [e.g. if you compete (federation/Division) or if you model
(agency/team)].

Diva Richards: My name is Diva Richards, and I am a Crossfit
Level 1 coach at Crossfit Tribe in Pennsauken, NJ, and a
Personal Trainer at Future Fitness in Cherry Hill, NJ.  My home
gym is one of these two locations, depending on the style of workout I
am doing.  I also coach classes for Steve’s Club National Program,
which is a non-profit Crossfit program for at-risk youth, designed to help
local athletes who can’t afford training.  I am 35 years old, and am
originally from Philadelphia, PA. My height is 5'6", and my off season
weight is 165lbs, and on season weight is 150-155lbs. As a member of
USA Powerlifting, I focus on push-pull lifts where I specialize in bench
press and deadlift.



Christian Duque: Please tell us your story - when & why did you first
walk into a gym and start working out and eating clean? What inspired
you?

Diva Richards: Growing up, I always valued mental and physical
strength in women. While I was in high school, the girls normally
avoided the weight room because there was a lack of knowledge about
the equipment and no one offered to help us. I was among those who
had no idea what to do in the gym, but I didn’t want that to hold me back
from becoming strong. I picked up a Muscle and Fitness Magazine
to learn new exercises I could do on my own. From there, I was
constantly looking for new ways to challenge myself, while also serving
as a role model to women who were interested in gaining strength.
Eventually I took up amateur boxing, where I trained to win the PA State
Golden Gloves in 2009. My competitive drive also led me to compete
in both fitness and figure competitions, which required a lot of hard
work and dedication. During my contest prep, I was introduced to clean
eating and started to view food as a source of fuel. I continue to feed by
body with the nutrition needed to perform optimally, and make
adjustments depending on what I am preparing for.
