Simon Sinek on why good leaders are "fundamentally like a parent"
CBS News
One person with no problem reaching a large audience is Simon Sinek. He is an author and leadership expert.
Robert Avsec's insight:

I really liked the way the author of this piece makes his points.  I particularly liked the part where he writes about how good leaders, like good parents, put the needs of their people first.  Check it out for yourself.

Robert Avsec's insight:

Good stuff. I've read a couple of article lately--guess it's because of the technology boom that has most people glued to their wireless device--about the value of writing things out.  Seems we can actually produce better outcomes in our writing by making use of the parts of the brain that are responsible for taking the "thought" and physically turning it into the written word.  Interesting, don't you think?

This is an interesting overview of tips and reasons for taking notes.  Notes are not just documentation, but rather a means to fleet participants focussed on what is going on.  The act of writing also reinforces the recall of the information.  The podcast mentions some great tools to help make note taking more efficient.

At The Padagogy Wheel Core: Immersive Learning Targets Engagement | Fire EMS Management | Scoop.it

The new version of the Padagogy Wheel tackles a major question that is lurking in the back of everyone’s mind. If it’s not … it should be. It’s about the problem of motivation in education. How do we motivate students, teachers, parents, and everyone else to get excited about learning? How do you stay motivated? What works and what doesn’t?”

Robert Avsec's insight:

No matter how "you slice it" trust is the most valuable commodity that any leader can possess in their quest to lead people to great results.  This article points that out in many ways.

OUTSTANDING piece on trust as a commodity in your workplace.  This piece turns typical articles on the subject on its side by examining who the most trustworthy people in your life are.  Unsurprisingly, most pick family despite spending the majority of their waking hours at work where they depend on their livelihood!  The author then goes into the question of how leaders can best earn the trust of their subordinates.  While the answer differs according to context, he has generally observed that leadership trust is a combination of six factors: Commitment, Character, Competence, Consistency, Caring, and Centricity.
