Inflation has eaten away at social security benefits.
MANY FINNS are forced to make ends meet with an income that by all measures is inadequate. The amount required for a bare minimum of reasonable consumption is estimated at 575-660 euros per month – housing costs not included. But those receiving basic income support are forced to make do with two thirds of this amount. In comparison, Finns living on the average income have enough money to cover their basic needs as much as three times over.

Nokia Oyj (NOK1V) technology policy director Erkki Ormala said Finnish industry needs to integrate into global business, Prima magazine reported.

“We are no longer living in the old cluster model where companies built their businesses in Finland and then expanded them abroad,” Ormala said according to Prima, which is published by the Confederation of Finnish Industries.

A child’s likelihood of developing food allergies can be traced back to the season during which he or she completes their first three months of life in the womb, new research from Finland suggests.

The Finnish researchers base their findings on just under 6000 children, all of whom were born between 2001 and 2006 and lived in one area of Finland.

The most successful education system in the world is probably Finland’s, and they have made teaching standards and credentials more exclusive and exacting, not less.

The Finnish public education system is undeniably great. I suppose it’s possible that Finnish schools are successful because every teacher is unionized and formal credentials are extremely important. But here’s an alternative hypothesis.

The company’s NGOA uses a single optical fiber to bring broadband to up to 1000 homes at speeds of one gigabit per second per household, for both uploading and downloading at distances of up to 100 km from the central exchange.
