Managed Services Firm Atos Opens Green Finland Data Center ... | Finland | Scoop.it

Web hosting and IT infrastructure Atos announced recently that it has opened a green data center in Helsinki. The data center is more than 50,000 square feet and uses energy based on heat recovery.
According to the announcement, the data center was built by the Finnish company Academica, a company known for efficient heat reclamation and energy recycling in its data centers.
The data center uses eco-efficient cooling provided by Helsignin Energia, and the extra heat from its servers is transferred to the district heating network to provide heat for more than 4,500 houses in the city.

Helsinki-based ZenRobotics says its intelligent recycling robot correctly identified and sorted half of the recyclable material it was fed during tests at a construction site.

The robot is able to identify metals, concrete, wood and certain types of plastics.

The European Union has awarded Stora Enso and its partner Alucha Recycling Technologies with the ”Best of the Best” LIFE environment award 2010. The award is used to promote projects that have a positive effect on the environment.

”Fiber-based beverage cartons are a great packaging product because it is a natural material with low carbon footprint that comes from renewable resources and it is highly recyclable,” relates Mats Nordlander, Executive Vice President at Stora Enso Packaging.
