The World Health Organisation (WHO) has granted prequalified status to an AIDS medication produced by Universal Corporation Ltd, a maker of high-quality, low-price generic drugs in Kenya.
“This opens the door for us to participate in international tenders to provide drugs to UNICEF, the Global Fund and others,” said managing director Perviz Dhanani.

A Finnish company - 7signal Ltd. - that provides wireless network technology for health care providers is opening a U.S. headquarters in Akron.

The startup plans to add about 30 jobs in the city within the next two years, including a few workers from Finland, said Stephanie York, the mayor's spokeswoman. The company has been operating in Akron General Medical Center and Akron Children's Hospital for four months.

Case Study: Helsinki City Rescue Department

Recently, a number of units of the Helsinki City Rescue Department in emergency patient care and medical services deployed a new electronic system, including tablet PCs. These units are equipped withXplore's iX104C Tablet PCs with a keyboard and printer. Additionally the data and measurements from a defibrillator are transferred in real-time into the Xplore computer via Bluetooth connection. Paramedics are able to use the system in emergency vehicles with wireless connection to complete patient care documents.
