Managed Services Firm Atos Opens Green Finland Data Center ... | Finland | Scoop.it

Web hosting and IT infrastructure Atos announced recently that it has opened a green data center in Helsinki. The data center is more than 50,000 square feet and uses energy based on heat recovery.
According to the announcement, the data center was built by the Finnish company Academica, a company known for efficient heat reclamation and energy recycling in its data centers.
The data center uses eco-efficient cooling provided by Helsignin Energia, and the extra heat from its servers is transferred to the district heating network to provide heat for more than 4,500 houses in the city.

Parliamentary elections in Finland are usually rather dull. Rarely does the rest of the world bother to pay any attention. But this year was different. The elections in April were the most exciting ones in decades with the incredible rise (from 5 to 19 percent) of the populist party True Finns as the main attraction. But the intricate political puzzle that followed the success of the True Finns was not the only source of excitement in the elections. Especially not if you happen to be an open data enthusiast.

Case Study: Helsinki City Rescue Department

Recently, a number of units of the Helsinki City Rescue Department in emergency patient care and medical services deployed a new electronic system, including tablet PCs. These units are equipped withXplore's iX104C Tablet PCs with a keyboard and printer. Additionally the data and measurements from a defibrillator are transferred in real-time into the Xplore computer via Bluetooth connection. Paramedics are able to use the system in emergency vehicles with wireless connection to complete patient care documents.

Finnish data security company Stonesoft has released the world’s first test service that will enable companies to test their security devices' capabilities to protect against advanced evasion techniques. The testing service will be made globally available through independent IT service organizations.

Advanced Evasion Techniques (AETs) are a means to disguise or to modify network attacks to avoid detection and blocking by the network security systems.
