POV: The Dove Whisperer & Storytelling | The Travel Photographer | How to find and tell your story | Scoop.it

How brief moments or experiences from your past, often in the recesses of one's mind, can pop out at the right time.

The author discusses his most popular Cowbird story "The Dove Whisperer".  The Dove Whisperer was a forgotten moment experienced in Bhutan in September 2009. He was shooting in a small monastery in Jakar when this elderly man appeared with a dove under his arm. When he asked what he was doing, the elderly man answered he was a bird healer. He was known to tend birds that had broken wings, and released them once they could fly.

The whole thing didn't last more than five minutes, and yet when the author was thinking of a story for Cowbird, he remembered it, searched for the photograph and it was on Cowbird in less time.

Re-defining storytelling as an art form | Oklahoma Tellers

Re-defining storytelling as an art form | Oklahoma Tellers | How to find and tell your story | Scoop.it

Most cultures view storytelling as an art form of adults first and entertainment for children second.

A move is in place to shift the current thinking to bring storytelling to broader audiences and for it to be recognized as an art form.
