Know All Your Banking Options When Going Back to School

Know All Your Banking Options When Going Back to School | Financial Well-Being | Scoop.it
How to evaluate the best choice for banking at your school.
Luda's insight:

My Thoughts:

Oh my! I really enjoyed this article about choosing the right banking option for college students. In the article, he writes about how many students tend to go to a National Bank rather than looking in to "University" type banks that have much less fees. This article helps encourage me into looking at local banks that support the community rather than large nationwide banks. This article had so much information about unnecessary fees, understanding your money, and utilizing the benefits that small banks offer. This article encourages me to continue doing research on the perfect banking option for myself and my future.

If your hands are still shaking, your desk is a recycling pile, your fingernails bitten and your storehouse of profanities exhausted, congratulations! It's over; you have completed the FAFSA.So far,...
Luda's insight:

My Thoughts:

This article really prepared me for the amount of work FAFSA will require for me to complete. I know that I can handle that. FIlling out my FAFSA, I also had a few troubles when it came to finding all of the right documentation that was needed for the form. Sometimes, finding that documentation required trips to the accountants office with my parents. Although there was a lot of work involved with filling out the FAFSA, I know that it will benefit me in the future. My parents were really great about helping out with the infomration that I needeed to complete the form.

BECU: A Community Credit Union that is More than just Money | BECU | Financial Well-Being | Scoop.it
BECU is Washington's leading and largest community credit union. Our goal is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial institution that members can trust. Join BECU today.
Luda's insight:

My Thoughts:

BECU is a credit union that I have always considered having an account with. I have read through all of their programs and account details and it is one that I am interested in pursuing. I really like their free account. There are no extra fees that I would have to worry about. Also, they have a great combination of a savings and checking account. This would be great for me because that would allow me to easily save money, while still having a checking account in the same place so that I am able to see all of my money at once. I also am a fan of the fact that it is "member-owned." I enjoy working with local owners because that lets me know that I support the community. BECU is definitely a banking option that I will be looking more into to fill my college financial needs.

How to avoid making errors on the FAFSA.
Luda's insight:

My Thoughts:

I never really thought that such simple mistakes could cost you so much. Simply by having one mistake on your application could cost you a long wait time to get your application approved; and that is not very fun when you are trying to get money from the state. Reading this article I defintiely learned soem new thigns that I will always be keeping my out from now on. For example; when filling out a paper form - always make sure to "follow the instruction with regard of using pen or pencil." I never really thought that it would make such a large difference, but because it does I will always be thinking about these simply truths to look out for. This article was a great source for help when completing the FAFSA form and making sure that everything was in the right place the first time!

CHASE Bank - Credit Cards, Mortgage, Personal & Commercial Banking, Auto Loans, Investing , Retirement Planning, Checking, and Business Banking

CHASE Bank - Credit Cards, Mortgage, Personal & Commercial Banking, Auto Loans, Investing , Retirement Planning, Checking, and Business Banking | Financial Well-Being | Scoop.it
Luda's insight:

My Thoughts:

Chase bank has always been in the family. All of my siblings have an account with Chase and both my parents. However, I do not want to open an account just based on the bank that my family uses. So, I began to do some research on this bank. I wanted to see what CHASE bank could offer me. I found a lot of interesting things. First, they have the most amazing cards. That still didn't sell me on the idea on opening an accoutn with them. Chase also offers a great deal of different plans when opening an account with them. You can get a card that earns you flight miles, or one that gives cash back, or great hotel rooms. However, thinking about it from a college student prespective, I knew that this bank would not be able to offer me what I need. Sure, the bank has a lot of great banking options, but they also have a great amount of fees. Random fees; from withdrawal and deposit to having a low amount in your account. As a college student, I cannot support these fees in a bank account, thus, Chase is most likely not the bank for me at this time.
