Paying for college with fertility clinics, sugar daddies

Paying for college with fertility clinics, sugar daddies | Financial Aid and Scholarship Opportunities | Scoop.it

What do sugar daddies, egg donation and pawnshops have in common? They help some students pay for college.

My Thoughts:

Although the idea of being a test rat in a lab sounds almost unbarable, I understand where these people are coming from. In just a few short sessions you can basically cover most of a year's college expences. You would have to work hundreds of hours of part time work to even come close to that. Also, other female students have dontated their eggs, and with one egg totaling $6,500 it is almost crazy not to. If you think about it, with a few eggs you could have your entire college tuition payed for. Going to these extreme cases to play for college may be the answer to some people, but not for me. I wouldn't scarifice my own health for money. However, it has opened my eyes to the fact that there is several ways to make a dollar now a days and I should explore my options.

I think that being able to afford college should be in the forefront of our young minds, however going to any length, such as selling your eggs, is a crazy thought to most people!

More than 500 Colleges Agree to Adopt Financial Aid Shopping Sheet | ED.gov Blog

More than 500 Colleges Agree to Adopt Financial Aid Shopping Sheet | ED.gov Blog | Financial Aid and Scholarship Opportunities | Scoop.it

I am pleased to announce that more than 500 colleges and universities (.xls), enrolling more than 2.5 million undergraduate students (thirteen percent of all undergrads), have committed to adopting the Financial Aid Shopping Sheet during the 2013-2014 school year.

My Thoughts:

I think that the Obama team creating the Financial Aid Shopping Sheet is an amazing development for incoming college freshman. In the past, students and their parents had to crunch numbers and try and estimate the cost of certain schools verus others. But now, the shopping sheet clearly and simply lays out all of the financial costs and the underlying cost of attending that university. This way families can make more informed decessions in choosing a school and also be able to plan for the financial burdens ahead. I am excited for future develpments in the Financial Aid Shopping Sheet and how many families that it will benefit!

College Scholarships Abound for Bilingual Students - The Scholarship Coach (usnews.com)

College Scholarships Abound for Bilingual Students - The Scholarship Coach (usnews.com) | Financial Aid and Scholarship Opportunities | Scoop.it

There are many sources of school funds for people who speak more than one language.

My Thoughts:

Many colleges and universities are now offering financial scholarships ranging from $3000-$7000 for simply speaking a different language. This caught my attention because for the past 3 years I have taken spanish courses. However, I am far from fluent, but the idea of handing out money for simply being able to speak a different language sparked an idea. If I were to study and master the language of spanish I could receive benefits that would help me attend school. In addition, the skill of speaking another language will highly benefit you for the rest of your working life, and with the amount of non english speaking people in the US, the skill of speaking another language is almost necessary.
