Dell Debuts First Ad as a Private Company | Finance News | Scoop.it
Dell is breaking its first ad campaign as a private company on New Year's Eve.
Alexandre WORMSER's insight:

Frist step of the strategy of Dell as a private company. In this article, we can watch the new ad campaign of the american company. They identify themselves as a private company by showing others examples of private company like Shazam or Skype.  In fact the quote on that video private company who were a startup before going bigger.  They want to show to consumers that they are making product for them  and not with the aim to please their financial stakeholder.

Alexandre WORMSER's insight:

Very interestig artcle about the utility of stock market for listed firm. This artcile with the one about the takeover of DELL by its founder  gave me the wish to chose this subject for my research proposal. Indeed, I think quite interesting the question of the utility of the stock exhange market for the economy and more particular for the listed firms.  More generally, I want to understand what there are behind the "stock echange economy" , who take advantage of this system?

In this article the author show us his point of view with figures and concude by the fact that at the end listed firm do not take advantage from stock exchange market  but shareholders who ask for more and more dividends are the only winners of the system.

Dell Officially Goes Private: Inside The Nastiest Tech Buyout Ever

Dell Officially Goes Private: Inside The Nastiest Tech Buyout Ever | Finance News | Scoop.it
After a battle to take this eponymous PC make private, Dell now answers to no one. That, he says, will prove the company's salvation.
Alexandre WORMSER's insight:

Quite interisting topic. Indeed, it's the first company (as big as DELL) to go private.  The first interesting thing is how the privatisation of Dell has been made.

It will be interesting to observe the impact of the privations on the company itself. Indeed, when we read the purpose of the privations, you can see that Mickael Dell wanted to do that in order to do whatever he wants to manage the company. What will be the new important decisions it will take for the company? What will be the new products? and what will be the impact on the organisation?

Will there be new privatisation after Dell?

Several points to look for in the next 2-3 years to have an objectif point of view on this privatisation.

INNMC Reports Large Electronic Cigarette Companies Going Public -- NEW YORK, Dec. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- | Finance News | Scoop.it
NEW YORK, Dec. 31, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- INNMC Reports Large Electronic Cigarette Companies Going Public.
Alexandre WORMSER's insight:

This article is not related to my topic. But I wanted to talk about this one because I am quite interesting in the future of the electronic cigarette industry. Indeed, for the moment it is rapidily expanding but we do not know yet the real impact on the health of electroonic cigarette and the environmental regulations are not really clear too.

With the increase of electronic cigarette users, government will start to handle the issue with more attention and regulations is subject to change.

Therefore, the future of this industry is not well defined. It could be a massive opportunity but it could also be a failure.

The comming years will be interesting to have our answer.

Le PDG du réseau social va céder 41,35 millions de titres qu'il détient "pour payer des impôts". Il conservera 56,1% des droits de votes au sein du groupe.
Alexandre WORMSER's insight:

I think this article is quite interesting concerning my research subject. Indeed, it's an example about the utility of the financials markets for both shareholder and company. Indeed, we learn in the article that Facebook CEO sold a part of his stocks to finance fiscal obligation. We also learn that the social network will issue new stocks to finance future acquisition.

Therefore, we have two different example about the utility of the financial market for all stakeholder wich are listed firms and sharholder.

S.&P. Downgrade Deals Blow to French Government

S.&P. Downgrade Deals Blow to French Government | Finance News | Scoop.it
The agency cut its rating for France to AA, saying tax and labor reforms would probably not have much impact on growth in the medium term.
Alexandre WORMSER's insight:

I've been looking the impact of this type of news for few times because I'm really curious about the impact,  a dowgrading could have on one country.

Of course, I know that the first impact of a downgrading is the ineterest go up. But are there any impact for people? Are there any changes in the daily life for people?

I would be glad to know what are the politic impacts for government when the rating  is downgraded ? Do the government change is economic politic or not?

Twitter chooses New York Stock Exchange for IPO over Nasdaq

Twitter chooses New York Stock Exchange for IPO over Nasdaq | Finance News | Scoop.it
Twitter has chosen the New York Stock Exchange for the future launch of its IPO, over Nasdaq.
Facebook used Nasdaq when it floated last year, and the exchange company also works with names such as Apple.

Via Thomas Faltin
Alexandre WORMSER's insight:

Quite interesting to hear that Twitter chooses NYSE instead of Nasdaq. We can ask us if they do that because they are paranoiac and they don't want to have the same lot as Facebook had on Nasdaq.

The other things interesting in the IPO of Twitter, is the price of one stock. They choose to have a low price to enter on the market compare to Facebook, which is for sure to make sure that the stock price will not go down after the release.

The last point I want to talk about is even if they don't have any revenues yet, investors are confident about Twitter as the stock price went up after the release about 48%..

This is quite disturbing to see that even if you don't have any revenus, your company can have value on the stock market
