Pale straw and bright with a flinty lemon and maybe grapefruit nose. How to Use Twitter for Crowdsourcing and Simple Market Research | Social Media Today

How to Use Twitter for Crowdsourcing and Simple Market Research | Social Media Today | FH Bachelor | Scoop.it

Having a social media presence can be an invaluable resource for providing insights into consumer needs, sentiment, and opinions towards a business, service or brand. Social media is by no means a replacement for traditional market research, but it can be used in a broader sense. That broader sense is becoming a widely adopted trend referred to as Crowdsourcing.

Crowdsourcing is the act of outsourcing tasks to an undefined, large group of people or community (a "crowd"), through an open call. Twitter is the perfect platform for implementing such a tactic and will often yield insightful, and sometimes surprising, results. Using Twitter to openly ask your followers and the community as a whole has additional benefits. By listening, organizations gain first-hand insight on their customers' desires. You have the option to follow up with your respondents in real time. Plus, because participants are not being led by moderators or necessarily thinking about the expectations for responses, the answers they give can be more genuine and revealing....

Political authority needs many props and in early 18th-century England claret was among them.

The fifty acre farm, mostly planted with vineyards, stretched along the Piceno countryside, surrounded by a special microclimate of the hills. The strong temperature differences between day and night, the low-level moisture as well as the freshness of climate let develop in the grapes, especially in white grapes, a special bouquet, which the farm preserves intact and valuable in its wines. The soil structure, medium-textured and clayey, controls, of course, the production and is also combined with the careful work of man in order to return high quality grapes.

Au Natural: The Wines of Domodimonti

Au Natural: The Wines of Domodimonti | FH Bachelor | Scoop.it

The Marches, or Le Marche as the Italians call it, sits on the east coast of Italy, where the Adriatic sea breeze blows off the water and up the many river valleys, reaching as far inland as the Apennine Mountains. With soil rich in clay, calcium, and limestone, Le Marche makes a wonderful home to over 60,000 acres of grape vines. And, of course, with a winemaking tradition that predates Rome, it is no wonder that a land like this can produce such memorable wines. Sandwiched between Emilia-Romagna to the north and Abruzzi to the south, and with Umbria in its backyard, the Marches is best known for its vibrant, mineral-rich whites and lighter yet savory reds. 2010 Domodimonti, ‘Picens’ Marche Rosso IGT, Marche, Italy $20
A supple and forgiving Marche Rosso made from a blend of four grapes – Montepulciano, Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon – matured for six months in French barriques and another half year in bottle. Expressive aromas of blackberries and currants waft from the glass, complemented superbly by an ample, elegant body and a lingering smooth tannin reminiscent of suede. This wine will really shine alongside a grilled tuna steak or roasted pork loin.

How social is reshaping marketing's fundamentals

How social is reshaping marketing's fundamentals | FH Bachelor | Scoop.it

Social media has revolutionized the basic tenets of marketing. Here's how it is deconstructing the venerable combination of price, product, placement, and promotion.

The four "Ps." It's hard to get through Marketing 101 without them. If anything was meant to be a foundation of marketing, it's the venerable combination of price, product, placement, and promotion. Now even this theory -- first put forth in 1964 -- is being reshaped. Social media and the customer intelligence available from it have revolutionized even these basic tenets of marketing. In some sense, the four Ps have been completely deconstructed. In all cases, they must be reevaluated.

Very interesting article Alice :). To me this article underlines a logical and necessary leap that needs to be made in order for marketers to truly develop an understanding of the consumers within the markets the operate. The fact that many technological advances have been made towards connectivity and consumer engagement through social media and similar avenues, only reinforces the need for marketers to reassess the fundamental framework that is the Four P's.
Roshani Mehta's comment, March 21, 2013 4:50 PM
Marketers need to develop the original four P’s, this marketing idea does still hold relevance to marketing but for marketers to truly be successful they need to understand people. This fifth P is essential to the marketing mix. Social media makes it easier to gain insights into consumer behaviour with it being so easily accessible and easily tracked – marketers have no excuse than to take advantage of all that social media has to offer.
David Lusion's comment, August 15, 2013 1:20 AM
I think the statements in the article are quite fair, for a brand that has successfully manged it's social media well, it would have followers that care about the brand, this can be treated like a large focus group and asked critical questions as they are the front line supporters, and perhaps brand champions..

The Evolution Of James Bond Movie Product Placement

The Evolution Of James Bond Movie Product Placement | FH Bachelor | Scoop.it
This isn't Bond's first Heineken....

Most people can't imagine James Bond drinking anything other than his signature vodka martini (shaken not stirred). But the international man of mystery is going to be sipping Heineken, again, in the upcoming Bond flick "Skyfall."

While some fans cry "sacrilege," this isn't the first time Bond has strayed from martinis.

In the very first Bond movie, "Dr. No," Bond perched at a bar beside a Red Stripe. He's also imbibed various brands of vodka, sodas, and other prominently labeled beverages.

For "Skyfall," Bond will be seen with a mall full of different brands, covering everything from Coke Zero, to Sony Vaio. The Heineken tie-in is one of the largest product placement packages in history.

To give you a sense of just how big of a deal product placement is for James Bond, we put together a short history of product placement throughout the lifespan of the movie franchise.

See the history of James Bond product placement here.
