Movie 43 - South Florida Movie Reviews by I Rate Films

Movie 43 - South Florida Movie Reviews by I Rate Films | Film reviews | Scoop.it
Movie 43 Movie Review by Movie Critic H-Man of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:
Movie 43 is absolutely worthless on every level. How so many talented people were tricked into partaking in this steaming pile of fail has to be one of the most baffling mysteries of our time, and watching them try so hard to make this pathetically imbecilic material work is as sad as it is wrenchingly painful. It is, by a mile, the worst film of 2013 that I’ve seen, and the thought of coming upon one this year that somehow manages to be even worse is frightening beyond comprehension. This epic piece of Razzie bait has garnered its much deserved reputation for a reason, and unless the sight of Gerard Butler playing a demented leprechaun tickles your fancy, there is no reason for you, or anyone else, to go anywhere near this colossal shit-bomb. - See more at: http://iratefilms.com/reviews/at-home/movie-43/#sthash.lFr0YPVv.dpuf

White House Down - South Florida Movie Reviews by I Rate Films

White House Down - South Florida Movie Reviews by I Rate Films | Film reviews | Scoop.it
White House Down Movie Review by H-Man of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:

White House Down

is a lot better than it has any right to be. In my always humble opinion, it’s by far Emmerich’s best film since Independence Day, which could very well make it his best film, period. It’s a rockin’, rollicking, and utterly ridiculous old school action flick, with enough gunfire and carnage to spare. It won’t totally blow you away, but overall, it’s not a bad way to kill a couple hours on a slow summer day. - See more at: http://iratefilms.com/reviews/film-reviews/white-house-down/#sthash.WgyBNJ9V.dpuf

Much Ado About Nothing Movie Review by Alyn Darnay of Chaos Films
Rick Swift's insight:

Much Ado About Nothing -

is really “Something”. Something very special. First of all, it was made by the extremely talented, 3rd generation Hollywood screenwriter and director Joss Whedon (The Avengers, Firefly, Buffy, Angel). Then, Whedon called upon the members of his regular ensemble of talented actors, and filmed this modern-dress version of Shakespeare’s comedy in 12 days within the confines of his Santa Monica estate. - See more at: http://iratefilms.com/reviews/film-reviews/much-ado-about-nothing/#sthash.UcmUtH9c.dpuf

World War Z Movie Review by Rick Swift of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:
Brad Pitt plays Gerry Lane, a former UN Special Investigator who has opted out of the government to do the most important job, being Mr. Mom to his two daughters.  He led a past life of adventure, international intrigue and was in some of the more dangerous places this planet still has to offer.  But everything changes on Z-Day, the Zombie Apocalypse is at hand, and his obligation is no longer to his family . . . but the planet! - See more at: http://iratefilms.com/reviews/film-reviews/world-war-z/#sthash.nP7DNeKK.dpuf

This is the End Movie Review by Madison Monroe of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:

I’m pretty sure the guys were mocking themselves in this movie.   It seemed like they had a lot of fun shooting this film, and I wonder how much of it was improvised.  Some parts were so funny, I missed some of the dialogue, because everyone in the theater was laughing so hard.  With a running time of 107 minutes, it did drag a bit.  I thought they could have made more montages to show the passage of time.  It was a fun ride though, you never know what to expect!! -

Movie Review: The Internship by Rick Swift of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:

The Internship has a lot of heart!  Director Shawn Levy gives us something to aspire to achieve and reminds us that we need to provide more than just an opportunity to our graduating seniors – we need to have faith, and yes, hope.  But, hope is a four-letter word if it isn’t backed by persistent practice, research and faith.

Demand Copperhead!

Rick Swift's insight:

From Ron Maxwell comes the third film in his U.S. Civil War series.  You have all probably seen Gettysburg and perhaps Gods and Generals, but I would wager only a handful of people have ever heard this term.

Learn all about this oft overlooked group from our nation’s history.  As you recall the success of Spielberg’s Lincoln, think of those in the North who wanted nothing to do with the war.

After Earth - South Florida Movie Reviews by I Rate Films | Film reviews | Scoop.it
After Earth Movie Review by H-Man of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:

After Earth is co-written and directed by M. Night Shyamalan, a fact that has been hidden from us in the marketing, as his name is nowhere to be found on any of the posters or trailers. It’s kind of fascinating to see how, over the course of the last decade, his name has gone from box office gold to box office poison, as his films became sillier and sillier, made less and less sense, to the point where he finally vanished up his own ass with The Happening, and studios have figured out that they’re better off just not mentioning his name. It’s kind of sad, really.

The Lords of Salem Movie Review by H-Man of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:

Rob Zombie has always interested me as a filmmaker, even if I haven’t exactly loved the bulk of his movies. His debut, House of 1000 Corpses, is a crazed, candy colored acid trip of a movie that has, I’ll admit, grown on me, but initially I kind of hated it. Its sequel, The Devil’s Rejects, is a grim, gritty, and genuinely intense picture that, much to my surprise, I kind of loved. His two Halloween flicks I didn’t love or hate. They had some aspects I liked, but overall, Zombie’s style just didn’t jive well with that particular series.

The Heat Movie Review by Madison Monroe of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:

The Heat

Bullock and McCarthy are fantastic together.  They really played well off each other.  I would definitely like to see this duo in future comedies!!  The movie did run a little long (almost two hours), but overall, The Heat is a hilariously funny tale about, more than anything else, family. - See more at: http://iratefilms.com/reviews/film-reviews/the-heat/#sthash.rj1FufZ6.dpuf

Monsters University - South Florida Movie Reviews by I Rate Films | Film reviews | Scoop.it
Monsters University Movie Review by Madison Monroe of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:
Monsters University was a clean, kid-friendly version of “Revenge of the Nerds”.  It was amazing to see how Pixar created this whole college world…for monsters.  Everything you would find on a human college campus, you can see at Monsters University.  I found myself constantly being amazed by both the animation (of course, it was Pixar!!) and the level of detail in each scene.  I loved the addition of the new monsters in the Oozma Kappa fraternity.  Stay tuned for a cute scene after the credits. - See more at: http://iratefilms.com/reviews/film-reviews/monsters-university/#sthash.bHHy2erk.dpuf

Man of Steel Movie Review by Rick Swift of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:
Man of Steel reminds us all that the choices we make have consequences, political, personal and even the choices of our parents have consequences we might not yet understand.  Ultimately though, we will have to face those consequences, if even Superman can’t hide from the sins of his fathers.  There’s little hope we stand a chance ourselves. - See more at: http://iratefilms.com/reviews/film-reviews/man-of-steel/#sthash.EyDc4OtR.dpuf

The Purge Movie Review - South Florida Movie Reviews by I Rate Films | Film reviews | Scoop.it
The Purge Movie Review by Michael Carter
Rick Swift's insight:

Hawke did a great job, along with the rest of the cast. Things can get boring when you cram almost a whole movie into one set location (like here in the house), but between the script, cast and action the play-through is smooth. I did wish it was longer. Some points could have been explored a little deeper. Overall I really enjoyed this thought provoking flick.

Interview with Dave Franco & David Limacher of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:

I don’t have a Twitter or anything like that. I feel pressured to get on Twitter, and I feel that if I’m on there people will be expecting me to write something every day, or be funny all the time. I’m really a private person, and don’t really find myself to be funny “all the time”, so I’m avoiding Twitter as long as I can!

Now You See Me - South Florida Movie Reviews by I Rate Films

Now You See Me - South Florida Movie Reviews by I Rate Films | Film reviews | Scoop.it
Now You See Me Movie Review by David Limacher of iratefilms.com
Rick Swift's insight:

Now You See Me begins by watching J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg) performing some “illuminating” street magic. We then see Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson) performing a hypnotism/mentalist act with a married couple in an airport. We then see Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher) performing her act in a club in Los Angeles. Lastly, we see Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) doing a magic trick of his own in New York City. The four were brought together, but what is the reason for it? They soon discover they were brought together to form a group thus known as the Four Horsemen. The opening sequence in showing the four different personalities is a great way to start. The fact some of them know each other before hand, and their interaction is really well done. This is a great way to start the movie, mainly because there is humor and a sense of what is yet to come.
