Teens, Social Media, and Privacy | Pew Research Center's Internet & American Life Project

Youth are sharing more personal information on their profiles than in the past. They choose private settings for Facebook, but share with large networks of friends.
Mighty Rasing's insight:

American Teens are sharing more information about themselves on social media sites than they have in the past, but they are also taking a variety of technical and non-technical steps to manage the privacy of that information. Despite taking these privacy-protective actions, teen social media users do not express a high level of concern about third-parties (such as businesses or advertisers) accessing their data; just 9% say they are “very” concerned.

Mighty Rasing's insight:

What if our youth camps were not only about "Spiritual" feeding and training and more about reaching out to others? What if we can make an impact in the community, not in the usual "evangelistic / preaching" kind of thing?

Gay shoes and groovy bishops: no wonder young people are losing their faith – Telegraph Blogs | Filipino Young People | Scoop.it
From Saturday's Daily Telegraph The results of the 2011 Census, published last year, were pretty devastating for Christianity, indicating that it will be a minority religion in Britain by 2018.
Mighty Rasing's insight:

British young people are increasingly becoming not-Christians.

I wonder if Islam will fill in Christianity's shoes should the latter become a minority religion by 2018.

"For the first time, the proportion of under-25s who don’t describe themselves as even nominal Christians has risen above 50 per cent. Also, the new breakdown shows that the rate of decline in British Christianity has been masked by the presence of 1.2 million foreign believers in this country."

Mighty Rasing's insight:

Mga tropa, are you still learning?

According to some studies, a lot of young people are no longer learning beyond the age of 17.

Alarming naman yan.

For me, it's fulfilling to learn something new, unlearn bad habits, get new skills and do something new. It brings excitement and a worthy use of my time.

Siempre, learning is not just about reading books or attending classes. It means understanding a little bit more about our world and finding our place in it.

Mighty Rasing's insight:

Can this present system deal with the rampant unemployment of young people?

Themes of alienation among young people seems to be present everywhere.

“Populations of young adults…are especially explosive when combined with the revolution in communication technology,” he warned in his book, Strategic Vision. “Often educated but unemployed, their resulting frustration and alienation” leaves them “susceptible to ideological agitation and revolutionary mobilization.”
