Corto Maltese, the P-E-R-F-E-C-T adventurer
For my first post I have to talk about this guy who makes me dreaming for long hours, Corto Maltese.Corto Maltese is THE perfect adventurer. He's serene, educated, poetic, philantropic, philosophic, sometimes melancholic, lonely, ironic, and he's obviously handsome. Being so perfect involves that you're a character. Indeed Corto Maltese is a character. He was created by Hugo Pratt (1927-1995), an italian cartoonist and writer. The first adventure of Corto Maltese, "La Ballata del mare salato" ("The ballad of the salty sea", published the first time in 1972) makes you discover a romantic and faboulous character.Corto Maltese's biography explains in itself the meaning of "adventure", son of a a beautiful Gypsy who practices magic and an English sailor and born in 1887 (in Malta), he spends his life between two harbors, two wars, two treasures and two secrets.I advice you to have a look on this good summary; http://dreamers.com/corto/english/cortolife.html Corto Maltese travels all around the world, he discovers, he lives such great adventures ! He's an adventurer, the one that I would have loved to be.
