En el mundo estamos sedientos de amor dijo en alguna ocasión la madre teresa de calcuta, en la conferencia que daba para recibir el premio novel de la paz, y esto hace mucho ruido en las clases sociales altas donde es una realidad la ausencia del amor. Si en nuestra escala de valores ponemos al amor en primer lugar talves nuestra historia sería otra y muy diferente a la que vivimos. Pero a su vez lo que afecta que no se cumpla son las creencias reflejan nuestra herencia cultural común, como todos esos que proliferan canciones y películas que equiparan el amor con el enamoramiento o el deseo sexual, o de historias que terminan felices para siempre, o incluso las ceremonias de matrimonio realistas que celebran el amor como una unión exclusiva y compromiso . Otras creencias sobre el amor son profundamente personales. Son el reflejo de su propia historia de vida única, con sus triunfos interpersonales y cicatrices, las lecciones aprendidas sobre la intimidad y no aprendidas. De no hacerse nada, estos prejuicios y mas son lo afectan las personas y titubear en lo que realmente es el amor verdadero.
