But while would-be teachers are coming in comfortable with technology, this doesn’t translate into knowing how to use it to engage young minds or to tailor a lesson to meet the learning needs and styles of individual students. Although teacher candidates know how to operate the devices, they need to be taught how to use them to help kids learn.

Some great tips in this article. I particularly liked 

Set up a FAQ page and refer demanding students to that, as a default starting point. Make it a one-stop information shop for common queries.but I do find you have to constantly refer students to it. The two syllabi below have the exact same content, word for word. So is one better than the other? Without hesitation, I would respond: yes, most definitely. And I could bet that most people looking at these documents side-by-side would be close to unanimous in deciding which is better (or, at the very least, be unanimous in deciding which they'd rather read).
