Adapting the Tech Sector’s Shared Workspace Formula - coworking + Incubators For Fashion

Adapting the Tech Sector’s Shared Workspace Formula - coworking + Incubators For Fashion | Fashion Technology Designers & Startups | Scoop.it

"spread over four floors, the new fashion hub, for which the Trampery partnered with Hackney Community College and the London College of Fashion, comprises eight individual, light-flooded designer studios (which rent for £30 a sqft per year), an open-plan space for fashion-related businesses — including fashion app developers, photographers, agents and others — and a grand 2500 square-foot hall with a coffered wood ceiling, which designers can use for fashion shows, castings and receptions. In the front of the building, there’s also a cafe that’s open to the public."

Bonnie Sandy's insight:

"the Tech sector's shared workspace formula",  It's called a coworking  space  and while It offers a solid option for emerging  busiensses , It's stronger with  an entrepreneurial and mentorship  program. They are not new and in fact traditional in  developing countries, The business model used bythe tech  world would  bring value and make these  easy for groups of designers across the world to start on their own. ..  find out more about  coworking  here http://goo.gl/FfK6j

21 best of George Takei Samples by @Huffpost using @facebook new embed feature. What would you embed | Fashion Technology Designers & Startups | Scoop.it
George Takei is lovable for countless reasons -- but to name a few: he played the unforgettable Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu on Star Trek, he's a fierce gay rights advocate and he happens to have one of the best social media presences of any celebrity...
Bonnie Sandy's insight:

On my list I'd be,
Curating  interesting post  from designers & labels

responding in a broader format to FB  discussions

Critique of images show BADLY fitted garment (my pet peeve)

What that means is that those using  FB to market need to  up their game!
Post need to be more interesting and call to actions etc need to be tight...
now couple that  with  Social graph  and Google Plus, as well as the Convergence of Media in General and there is a lot to  get ready  for and serious marketing to do ... are you  up to the  challenge!

Why The Era Of Personal Style Blogs Must Come To An End

Why The Era Of Personal Style Blogs Must Come To An End | Fashion Technology Designers & Startups | Scoop.it
People who want lasting careers in fashion media won't find it by simply inviting the world to ogle their clothes.

"The bloggers...don't offer anything but photos of themselves are in trouble. Sites centered on personalities don’t have legs to stand on if that personality becomes detached. These “cult of personality”-type destinations will have a much harder time selling to larger companies if their founders already have one foot out the door to pursue television careers. How do you sell Atlantic-Pacific or Sea of Shoeswithout their stars? It’s like selling Seinfeld without Seinfeld — you can’t have certain products without the people who are those products.

Bonnie Sandy's insight:

This is true in every  business. One session in my creative entrepreneurial  workshops is legacy planning, not just the legal aspect but the brand 's legacy."Whayt happens to your business if you're not here tomorrow?". i've tried avoiding that  pitfall but it is not as easy as it seems.
