“Who can look up your Timeline by name?” Anyone you haven't blocked. Facebook is removing this privacy setting, notifying those who had hidden themselves that they'll be searchable.
Bonnie Sandy's insight:

Now if you use Facebook for business, this is a good thing. I suggest  that you want to be searchable. So go optimize...

If you're under a witness protection  program... it may not be wise to be online under your real name and persona.
To control whosee what go check your various settings...

Brooklyn’s tech sector grew faster from 2007 to 2012 than in any other urban center except for San Francisco. Tech employment in Brooklyn grew by 24 percent while wages grew by 54 percent. It makes No sense to pursue ANY new initiative in  any  secor  sector without  a tech focus. ... now maybe local fashion companies will pay  attention to tech and local official will see it as important!

DJ Zimmie The End Of DJing - Same can be said for #Photography #Fashion - RESPECT the #craft | Fashion Technology Designers & Startups | Scoop.it

The End Of DJing…   First off, if you're reading this on your cell phone and you're in the middle of a dance floor at a club, say good night to your friends, pay your tab, walk outside and step in front of a bus.  The world thanks you...

If you know a real deal veteran photographer, ask them how many dipshits bought a camera and started calling themselves photographers the same day.  I own a camera.  I also respect the craft enough to know that I’m not a photographer."

Bonnie Sandy's insight:

This via my cousin www.thatvideomagzaine.com  who covers  lifestyle, tech and entertainment scene in Houston. I'm not to familiar with the DJ and entertainment scene, but as a tech lover I understand technology is affecting the world and all sectors. I beleive that  we need to adapt but from the point of view of adapting  for the better. That said we need to respect craftsmanship. understand it and what  GREAT  quality is!

#facebookdown - first day of #mercuryinretrograde - shoulda checked your old farmers @almanac

#facebookdown - first day of #mercuryinretrograde - shoulda checked your old farmers @almanac | Fashion Technology Designers & Startups | Scoop.it

The Farmers' Almanac: 196 Years Old and Undaunted by Climate Change - Modern Farmer

The Almanac, which has been published annually since 1818, continues to thrive — both in print and online. And while the likes of AccuWeather and the Weather Channel have created a meteorological monopoly, the Almanac still holds its own as a long-term forecaster. And unlike those other behemoths, it can also tell you the best days to do everything from cutting your hair to castrating a bull. To get a better idea of how the Lewiston, ME-based Almanac has adapted to both changing technology and climate,...

Bonnie Sandy's insight:

Didn't you check your old farmers almanac... I'm  a farmers grand-daughter. I  do not question how the moon affects crops and the seas nor why  communications go  awry  during  mercury in retrograde.
Last week I checked the  dates-  October 21st to  November 10 Mercury will be going to be in  retrograde.  I backed up  some files on my laptop, and decided to revisit,  clarify and edit old blog drafts and complete some writing over the next few days,  So Yesterday while  my cousin and others complained that  Facebook was down, ( her plans to update her groups went awry)  I got quite a bit accomplished.

Work smart not Hard.

The Mythological Mercury  aka Greek mythological god Hermes. has winged sandals and a winged hat, indicating the ability  for speedy travel as the official messenger governed communications.
Mercury  - " influences travel, literature, poetry, merchants, and thieves  and yes thus affects SOCIAL MEDIA &  digital communication tools.)
" He is cunning and witty at a moment's notice. But he is also recognized as a trickster and prone to misbehavior"

and yes in today's world that  may mean your facebook, twitter, Im phone and PC may  go down"

@OSFashion even at 30% off #FFCNYC is one I cannot recommend - more fashion in #Fashiontech please. | Fashion Technology Designers & Startups | Scoop.it

The Freestyle Fashion Conference will offer attendees a unique learning experience, while providing an environment that lends towards building meaningful connections.  The program is comprised of a series of focused classes related to the business of Fashion. All sessions are taught by experts with very specific domain expertise.  This is a great opportunity for brands, retailers, creatives, and business development professionals working in Fashion, Retail, or Technology!

Bonnie Sandy's insight:

My usual recourse is simply NOT to say anything about events I myself would not support. I understand as do many  that  designers call on me and that  I share vital information. They trust me and my  concern for them and their livelihood is genuine. So I have to be honest this is not one I would recommend.

It was not designed for  an indie fashion focus, Saturday is also one of the BUSIEST  days for the Indie Fashion sector. This type of conference is NOT how creatives learn, and the creatives in my circle are actually better off putting their funds into a last ditch  holiday push. If  paying over $100 to connect or sit and listen to a panel is worth it then by all means.

That money needs to be put towards product developnent and marketing  for the Holiday season. I am, these days especially concerned about the dire straits most indie designers find themselves and worse that most Fashion Tech  companies are essential using them as bait to attract funding... many have never heard of these sites outside of the seminars and workshops  I give and few can actually use this information.

Look, those hoping for "exposure and connections' well the decision is yours.  Consider what new you can you seriously learn from 4 topics in one morning. This one day format  does little for designers. Then again I'm not sure how knowledgeble those planning are about the actual indie design sector.

Looking at the lineup it is more traditional than Indie or "Opensource". The indie design sector is in shambles... and the Fashion Tech sector has done little to  assist or genuinely seek their interest. despite the press many have received, few are actually selling and the reason is simple the current system does not meet or support their needs.

The courses individual and in depth  would be great especially if really given a fashion/apparel focus. I also recommend they check out the various sites and familiarize themselves with teh players. As it is this is more tailored for the startup  founder. Who has more of a Media-tech foused.

I am sorry but something is wrong and we need t as a sector to  take a tough look and not only chart a course, but honestly  speak out... Now if you know nothing of teh fashion tech  space or scene, then this definitely is something you can add to your weekend calendar.

Is Sean Combs's TV Channel [or any of the emerging content models] Good for Artists & Creatives

Is Sean Combs's TV Channel [or any of the emerging content models] Good for Artists & Creatives | Fashion Technology Designers & Startups | Scoop.it

Sean Combs’s Revolt TV channel claims a “royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual, unrestricted, worldwide license” to publish your material, plus the right to reproduce and use your content, at no cost, across all future technologies...  By clicking the “Submit” button, you agree to Revolt’s terms of service, which give Revolt unlimited license to use your work. The network can now use anything you’ve sent them on cable TV. The channel claims a “royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual, unrestricted, worldwide license” to publish your material, plus the right to reproduce and use your content, at no cost, across all future technologies. Your proudest videos, photographs, and writing could be used indefinitely in Revolt TV’s programs for free—unless someone else has an exclusive license to use your work, in which case you’ve already violated Revolt’s terms. Welcome to the revolution"

Bonnie Sandy's insight:

Content is not CHEAP and great Content is EXPENSIVE to create... which is why  I'm moving to a my site to Membership site. When fully launched it's $20 annually... But current supporters can get a lifetime membership for $5.00  http://www.bonniesandy.com/moving-to-a-membership-model-lifetime-for-5-00-till-9-22-13/ ;

I support collaborative distribution. I even 'understand" this model... but  these terms of service... but is SEAN COMBS to blame... all startups, rather most startups do NOT include support for the very busiensses that provide content for their sites!

I encourage artist and designers to have their OWN sites to share to their social media from those sites. I  suggest getting the Google plus authors tag to show authorship by first  posting to your site.  Be clear on what you share. It is my intent that on my site all artist maintain their rights, for now though I am provioding the  conten, designed to inform and educte and prep creative in ownership within a collaborative economy.  I also  refrain from using "stock" images whenever possible. I also use screen shots of sites and give credit.

Yes, It is time consuming and expensive ... but it's not only  the site producers fault. Too many are  desperate for fame and DO NOT  WANT  TO WORK ... so they give their work away. Many do not know and understand what they are doing. My other concern none of these sites really help teh artist ... to improve. Not investing in  your core product does NOT make sense.  Which is why  I am starting a memberrs only  commubity to prep the creatives  to whom The Tibiaetech startup will provide solutions to.
