Democratisation of #FashionWeek if you were to redesign T#runway what would it look like

Democratisation of #FashionWeek if you were to redesign T#runway what would it look like | Fashion Technology Designers & Startups | Scoop.it
Recently, Burberry, Vetements, Tommy Hilfiger and Tom Ford have all announced that they will no longer be conforming to the traditional fashion calendar. Vetements will be showing its women’s and men’s collections in January and June, two months ahead of the rest of Paris Fashion Week’s shows. Burberry and Tom Ford, meanwhile, will be releasing their new-season wares for sale as soon as they’ve done the rounds on the catwalk. In a statement, Burberry’s Christopher Bailey said these changes “will allow us to build a closer connection between the experience that we create with our runway shows and the moment when people can physically explore the collections for themselves.”
Bonnie Sandy's insight:

Democratisation of #FashionWeek if you were to redesign T#runway what would it look like.  Can we honestly look at the pros and cons of the present system and make not just advancements but adjustment
Do we need to address #Logistics, #supplychain,  #calendar #runway #access #models # PR # Socialmedia #engagement #retailprocess or do we  simply need clothing people actually want t buy and can afford to  buy.  Is it enough to  simply adjust  or do we need to overhaul, improve of go all out to INNOVATE?

What would you do with technology if you coluld.

We're overhauling  Nyukco for our next stage and these are questions we are  asking what will the creative sector need in 3-6 years

How Smartphones (and Reality) Are Killing Off the Fashion Show!- or allow me to gloat- I told you so!

How Smartphones (and Reality) Are Killing Off the Fashion Show!- or allow me to gloat- I told you so! | Fashion Technology Designers & Startups | Scoop.it
“Everyone drank the Kool-Aid for too long, but it’s just not working anymore,” Ms. von Furstenberg said last week. “We are in a moment of complete confusion between what was and what will be. Everyone has to learn new rules.”

This is turning out to be fashion’s season of existential crisis. Suddenly designers are asking big questions about “purpose” and “effect,” re-examining the system on which they rest. And they are doing it in the cold, blue light of the smartphone’s glare. They are doing it, arguably, because of the smartphone’s glare.

Complaints about the fashion show system, a monthlong twice-yearly four-country treadmill to see clothes six months before they reach stores, have been around for a long time: Fashion week is too tiring, too old-fashioned, too crowded. But while fashion people have largely complained about the effect the system has on their own lives and jobs and creativity, today’s problems are driven by a force even more powerful than simple self-interest: financial interest.

Which is to say, the buying public.
Bonnie Sandy's insight:

With a changing dynamic what  will be the fate of  stakeholders that have nothing to do with fashion per se and how will that affect the "$900 million in total economic impact each year, including an estimated $532 million in direct visitor spending"

The shortest distance between two point a is a straight line - In Fashion that means simply the product  to the consumer you do not NEED fashion week. While business interest in fashion will welcome this change-  their is a group especially PR and social interest that will herald it as the fall of the sector.

That fear has for too long held designers hostage!
I recently sat in a meeting where such an entity made no effort to show his fear of being irrelevant.

Desperation has sent the  Fashion sector is in an  upheaval . On eth one hand Designers are FINALLY being "innovative"  for Kanye  ticket-buying consumers, who will fill out the more than 18,000 ticket buying consumer payed up to $8,584 on resale sites- (The official price of the tickets was $50 to $135.) Those who cannot make it, the was filmed and screened in theaters in 25 countries, including Macedonia and Australia.  Burberry and Hilfiger (and I am sure many more) will not only show immediate (fall) but they will also show direct to consumer.  Then there is  Diane von Furstenberg, who  will
"invite select guests to filter in and out for over an hour (or to stay and drink and schmooze) to see vignettes of Karlie Kloss and Gigi Hadid, among other major models, acting out real-life situations, choreographed by Stephen Galloway"

For indie designer This is business as usual. This is how they present. Except now the  are competing with designers in their niche across the globe as well as more establish brands! With this challenge   they now more than ever need to  resolve production issues tah has crippled them

There's a new 'Netflix' for clothes

There's a new 'Netflix' for clothes | Fashion Technology Designers & Startups | Scoop.it

It could be described as the Netflix for clothes: a subscription service which allows fashion-conscious shoppers to simply stroll into their favourite high street store and rent that must-have jacket, accessory or party dress straight off the rail, all for a flat monthly fee.

As retailers look for new ways to keep customers coming into stores, renting clothes rather than buying them outright could soon become a normal part of the British high street, according to a report by one of the world’s leading shopping centre owners.

Bonnie Sandy's insight:

Designers, next time someone ask to use your clothing for a fashion show- have them RENT them! Perfect for the one of a kind indie sector- Renting clothes rather than buying them outright could soon become  normal. Think Tuxedo Rental. I recently suggested this to an Indie  designer  with over $20000 in store. The customer  who is purchasing orders a custom designer customized version.

I'm Still not convinced that @Livestream's #Movi 4K Camera is worth the investment

Movi is the new pocket-sized live event video camera and companion iOS app that lets you edit while you film. Now you can share live events in real time with unprecedented production value.

It's like having a multi-camera production studio in your pocket.
Bonnie Sandy's insight:

I'm still not convinced that @Livestream's #Movi #4K Camera is worth the investment. i'm  not an Apple fan first up!  I LOVE my  independence and being tied to live stream where i lost some very valuable footage without ANY support sorry!  I like the idea of multi  camera feed but their are other ways to hack that!

Rihanna on Her New See-Through, Stiletto-Heeled Puma Collection: ‘I Tried to Push the Envelope a Little Bit’ | Fashion Technology Designers & Startups | Scoop.it
Rihanna answers questions about her first full fashion collection.
Bonnie Sandy's insight:

Riri's line resonated with dancehall looks from several Indie Bk designers that would have pervaded spaces like the Ark and Tilden hall from the early 1990's to today!  In fact  I remember the neighbor calling to complain about my wearing the very outfit Riri had on...  granted as a student at FIT  this was my daily get up! The one in the center is currently in several show windows and recently passed along the social media streams but I know two designers Hot cocoa and Goldteeth who have specialized in these looks for a long time now... but of course to main stream it's "new"
